A tribute to our First version of Lush. Our Lush recipe continues to evolve but we haven't lost sight of our original vision and intention.

Poured from the bottle into a snifter.
Pours a slightly hazy bright yellow with ample bubbly head.
Aromas of lemon zest, hops and some mellow dankness.
Flavors are dominated by lemon, mellow citrus and hops.
Mouthfeel was solid.
This is a nice beer that has good aroma and flavor and finishes clean.

Sweet looking hazy double IPA. Really juicy looking orange with a thickness to it. Bit of citrus, wee bit o pine some dankness too in the nose. This brew has upfront bitterness in the initial mouthful which while I wouldn't call bad but I would say unexpected. Plenty of citrus fruit forward with some real nice spice notes of ginger, allspice & mace. Lots of resin here too coupled with some earthiness. That thickness is plenty evident in the feel and the bitterness as well

Bottled on 06/16/17.
This was poured into a tulip.
The appearance was a dark murky copper color with a finger's worth of white foamy head that slid off fairly quick. Messy yet filmy lace ran around the glass nicely.
The aroma brought the mango to the peach/apricot sweet fleshiness rolling over some grassy smooth sweet yet citrusy quaint somewhat pulpy juiciness. Touch of spice, white pepper? Not sure.
The flavor leaned into a blend of the mango/peach/apricot sweetness initially and then punched that spice (I guess it's white pepper, still not entirely sure) into the hops with a sly bitterness. Aftertaste was the blend of those fruits and developing a bit more invasive bitterness.
The mouthfeel was about medium bodied with a fair sipping quality about it. Sturdy carbonation felt good but not distracting. IBU harshness seemed a bit higher than expected.
Overall, pretty nice DIPA all around but I did read on the bottle that this was supposed to be a tribute to the first version of Lush. Cool beans, I gotta go back and read what I wrote for Lush to see how they compare.

From 750ml bottle into tulip. Great lacing.
Thick golden orange; completely opaque, of course. A frothy, smooth pile of foam on there.
Not super strong smell; very smooth though; really refreshing. So good mango, hops, but nothing aggressively strong. Mellow and inviting.
Feel is kind of thin at the start and on small sips, but if you let it sit in there a bit it fills up with some smooth bubbles. Thought it was too watery the first third of the beer, but started to really really like it.
Juicy. There is a hop flavor (it’s a DIPA after all…) which is upbeat and not pulled down by much malt or stickiness at all, but reserved enough in magnitude on it's own to stay chill. Finishes with a smooth tropical citrus flavor. It’s not a bitter citrus, but something smoother. Definitely a drinkable beer. Not a flavor blast for sure, but everything that’s there is good.
I think I like Lush more, but I'd have to give them a back to back to compare.

OG Lush, eh? Color me interested.
L - hazy darkish orange candy. Thick and luscious head that takes its sweet time settling.
S - definitely some Lush here, but more focused in its candied qualities. Lightly floral up front, then turns a touch dank as bubblegum and sugary orange comes through. Maybe some vanilla.
T - less juicy than its brethren. Pineapple and orange mixed with roses, then a watery hoppiness takes over. Piney and grassy. Finish is strong and lasting with hits of Dubble Bubble and fresh bitterness.
F - soft. Sneaks up on you as it grows bigger and bigger. Unfortunately falls a bit flat in the middle where the aforementioned "water" jumps and and thins out quite a bit. That void is back in place when drinking Lush.
O - great flavors, but everything is a bit on the light side, and the balance is inconsistent. Wavers between tropical & wintry pine and creamy & watery. Certainly quaffable though!

I had to come back and take this back a bit. It seems to be very different in the bottle than on tap. I found the bottle I bought to be a whole lot less impressive. I just sampled about 20 IPAs and DIPA yesterday, and this just wouldnt stand up to some of the ones I tried.
Look: Like a Hazy Glass of Unfiltered Goodness
Smell: Like a bouquet of amazonian flowers on display in a Christmas Tree.
Taste: Like a Mexican Fruit Salad put in the blender with a newly blooming Christmas Tree that was ornamented with candied pecans.
Feel: It was wet and lushes, coating my mouth with an explosion of things that didnt seem from our world.
Review: I was lucky enough to be at at bar in VT when they were tapping a keg of this goodness. Never had Frost Beers before. I watched a few folks get their pours of this fine hazy concoction. It just looked perfect. After a lot of positive feedback, and locals insisting this was the best beer they ever tasted, I gave in a tried one. It was very good. It went delightfully with my breakfast. The hops were balanced and perfect. The unfiltered sweetness finished like some kind of candied wombat Niblet.
I straight up suck at reviewing beer, but when the people from the valley where Heady Topper is made are gushing over a new DIPA, it probably means something. And the fact that keg was kicked by the same time the next day, probably also means something. People were calling their friends to come get some, so I expect it might be rare as well. Let's get some solid reviews from some folks who can actually rate beer. But this is a winner in my book. I just drank a Heady, an SOS, and a Prospect, but want some more of the Flush. Just don't know where to get it.

Moderate pour yields a one inch white head, medium golden body, and very nice lacing. Nose of tropical fruit, pine, and citrus. Taste follows with a nice easy hop bitterness. Clean, smooth, and even are words that come to mind. Also, a nice feel with a nice dry finish. Overall another nice job done in Hinesburg, VT.
