A: crystal clear; the color is watered down cola with mahogany highlights; 1 finger finely pored tan head that receded to a moderate, tight collar; light lacing;
S: milk chocolate, moderately roasted grain, and maple;
T: moderately roasted grain with maple way in the background; mild to moderate bitterness at the end;
M: medium bodied; moderate carbonation; moderately dry finish;
O: very little maple character, which was fine with me, but odd for a beer brewed with maple;

Super dark brown in color with a frothy tan head. Nose is full of malt and somewhat sweetness. Teh maple syrup does not come through on the nose...at first. As the beer sits and warms up a bit then the maple comes through. Taste is as the nose, malty and slightly sweet assume from the maple syrup, however it is not offensively so. Soft drinking beer.

Wow! What a favorable brown ale. I have to admit, I am a maple syrup fan, but it’s not overly sweet. It has just a slight maple hint as you swallow. Beautiful rich brown color with a slight barley lace. Adding this one to my all-star stash.

Solid Brown Ale!! Poured from a 16 oz. can into a pint glass, this beer features a dense brown color with lots of ruby highlights coming through when held to a light. The tan head is medium sized, somewhere between foamy and frothy, with good retention and lots of lacing on the glass. Aroma of slightly sweet malt with a slightly sweet bready, malty taste. The maple syrup flavor is light. Mouthfeel is medium density, smooth and moderately rich. Goes down real easy

Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown with little light transmission in the glass and a one finger khaki head with good retention and nice lacing. Aroma of dark lightly toasted malt, cocoa and a hint of maple. Flavor is lightly toasted malt, dark bread and mild cocoa. I get a faint maple syrup hint, but probably only because I'm looking for it. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess. I realized as I poured this that I've not had, nor remember seeing another brown ale for quite a while. My first impression was that the flavors were very light and had to remind myself that this is not a porter or stout, which it visually looks like. It is rather laid back, but does have a very pleasant malty base with light toastiness. There is light cocoa and bready notes. The maple is very subtle, but adds to the taste. A bit too mellow, but a quite enjoyable malty ale that I enjoyed finishing. I need to watch for more brown ales, I like this better than most light lagers and ales. Looks great.

This is a review of a 16oz can of the beer. From the bottom of the can: "UNCLE JAMIE 12/21/23 10:57"
Appearance: The body is a very dark brown color which appears nearly opaque until it is held close to any light source. It seems to have good clarity although the darkness of the beer makes it a bit hard to tell. It has a very large, light tan, fluffy head which has excellent head retention. It has a much larger head than what normally comes from an American Brown Ale. It leaves nice sheets of lacing on the glass. It looks great.
Aroma: There isn't really much aroma here, even when cupping the glass. It has a bit of an herbal hop note but at times I wonder if that is even there. It is truly a marvel that breweries can make a beer without an aroma.
Taste: There is a weird candy flavor with an awkward bitterness attached to it up front. It is kind-of like if you combined a toffee with minty pine. It just has this oil and water quality where the flavors exist separately and don't seem to harmonize at all or complement each other. The flavors don't change at all and there is a bit of a pine flavor in the aftertaste.
Mouthfeel: It is on the upper edge of light bodied and it has a medium hop pine-like bitterness that lingers. It feels weird to drink this beer.
Overall: The label on the can states that this is a "BROWN ALE BREWED WITH MAPLE SYRUP" which is probably a lie. It is very hard to get the aroma or flavor of maple syrup out of anything, and this tastes nothing at all like maple syrup. It has some pine notes which are alright but the beer as a whole is a huge disappointment. I wouldn't buy it again and I would strongly recommend against buying this beer.

Poured from a 16 oz can. Pours dark, rich brown with significant lasting head. Roasted malty taste with maple syrup on the end. Very nicely done. Worth seeking out.

Poured from a 16 oz can into a tulip glass.
Pours a dark brown color with 2 fingers of effervescent khaki head. The head leaves a few bits of splotchy lacing before settling into a thin sheet.
The aroma brings notes of brown bread, brown sugar, maple syrup, chocolate, and toasted pecans. There's some slight earthiness on the back end.
The flavor follows the nose: Brown bread, rich maple syrup, brown sugar and milk chocolate lead the way, followed by a wave of roasted nuts and dark malts. There's some subtle molasses and plum notes before an earthy, hoppy finish.
The feel is medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Relatively creamy and smooth with some modest dryness.
Overall, this is a great brown ale that hits all the right notes expected of the style. The added maple is a subtle, but very nice touch.

Had on tap. Dark brown pour with a white head. Smell features maple, brown sugar, roasted malt, char, and woods in the fall. Really nice work with the roasted malt, slight char, and woodsy flavors starting us off before the stream of maple, brown sugar, and a touch of dry and bitter chocolate come in, with roasted candied nuts and earth bringing it all to a balanced finish. Feel has various textures from smoke, maple, and malts, with good earthiness, though a little on the lighter side which may have helped given the maple presence so as not to cloy. A perfect brown ale for autumn
