Enjoyed what I would only guess is a little past its prime. Unfortunately, it seems to have lost a step in flavor and body compared to other people's experiences.
Still a nice beer, but I would like to try it fresh.

toasty malts, molasses, dark fruit, oak, spice, mellow booze, some hints of vanilla and caramel. very smooth and easy drinking for the abv. solid dose of dark fruit, cherry, plum, raisin, even a hint of apple or something ... not a huge amount of barrel character but there is that boozy spice to it. nice stuff!

L — Pours a fairly dark black body with a two-finger mocha colored head produced with aerated pour. Good retention and a little lacing
S — Rye whisky, barley malts, molasses, caramel, oak, raisin, prune, sweet apple, dark chocolate, vanilla
T — Dark chocolate, smokey barrely char, rye whisky spiciness, licorice, and a touch of coffee and dark fruit
F — Big mouthfeel, medium- carb. Not particularly fluffy or velvety. Has more of that oily, viscuous quality that Ten Fidy has, but not as extreme.
O — I’ve been drinking a lot of bourbon barrel aged stouts lately and the differences between bourbon and rye barrels are pretty noticeable. This one is drier and more spicy. Pretty darn good! I’m curious how long they age this in the barrel

Bottled 10/26/2017.
This was poured into a tulip.
The appearance was a thick black color with a finger's worth of tan foamy head that slid off fairly quick. Nice film of spider webbing lace coated the sides of the glass.
The aroma started off with some frisky sweet fresh sprucy/pine needles that seemed to play with a nice milk chocolate backbone and woody barrel sweetness. Light wafer-like sweetness. That cocoa powder dryness came in stealthily with some dark chocolate nibs that bit away at the damp needle-like pineyness for a healthy remarkable balance.
The flavor presented a moderate sweetness coming from the milk chocolate with some of the dark chocolate sliding in there as well. Some earthy to woody sweet barrel displayed an affectionate personality in this department. Dry and roasty aftertaste touching upon a light herbal and light dark toasty character.
The mouthfeel was about medium bodied with a fair sipping quality about it. Carbonation felt fine. ABV did feel just a touch under than what was projected. Nice finish with a slight gripping roastiness about it.
Overall, from the creator of Ten Fidy, we get our first whiskey barrel aged stout by Frost Beer Works and it's well done. It's one that I would definitely come back to.

Dark dark brown with a filmy brown sugar head
Dark damp smell
Very full bodied stout with molasses notes
Probably the best Frost beer to-date
Maybe the best Stout in Vermont
