16oz can purchased from the fridge as a single for $4.99. Canned on 03/14/24, so this beer is almost four months old.
Look: Nice orange-pineapple juice haziness. Just barely translucent. The rocky head fizzled pretty quickly.
Smell: Aromas of pineapple gummy rings, kiwi, and a green/pungent note that is hard to place. It's interesting because the beer almost smells sour but I don't think that it will taste sour. The aroma is also a bit chalky.
Taste: Up front, it's fruity and a bit tropical with a slightly acidic (not sweet) juiciness. Then the beer gains a moderate bitterness that is a bit green, earthy, floral, and woody. There are notes of underripe pineapple, starfruit, kiwi, and lemon. The mid-palate on the beer is a bit empty.
Feel: It's on the lower side of medium bodied. It has a bit of a soda-like body, but it's not syrupy or sweet. There's just a lot of carbonation here and the beer brings a bit of acidity so I think that's why it reminds me of having the mouthfeel of a soft drink.
Overall: My first Frost Beer Works beer. This beer is a bit strange in my opinion. Then again, I can cut them some slack for being creative and trying to make a beer with an experimental hop. Not all experiments are successful. In facts, most are probably unsuccessful. Kudos to Frost for trying! I'd never heard of Ahhhroma hops before. They're not such aromatic hops if you ask me. Interesting nonetheless.
