Perfect beer for the summer, although I'd have some during the other three seasons, too.

From notes
Appearance: It has a nice pale hazy yellow color to it. It has a nice white head that dies down somewhat fast and leaves light lacing.
Smell: The aromas definitely give out hints of wheat malts, a light breadiness, tart lemon and some funk.
Taste: Like the aromas, it has some wheat malts, a faint breadiness, light grains, tart lemon and some definite funk.
Mouthfeel: It has a low-med carbonation with a nice overall balance and feel.
Drinkability: It's a very smooth drinkable beer accompanied by good flavors and aromas. Very refreshing Berliner!
Serving type: growler

32 oz. screwtop bottle picked up at the brewery; filled May 19 2015 and served well-chilled. The buzz surrounding this one had a lot to do with my detour into Stratford.
Pours a pale, cloudy straw-yellow colour, generating one finger of soapy, sparkling white head. It fizzles away over the next minute or so, leaving behind a wide, foamy collar. It certainly looks like something I'd want to gulp down on a hot patio - and the aroma of pale, wheaty malt sweetness, lemon rind and barnyard funk only supports that theory.
Beautifully refreshing, simple flavour profile. Tart, citric lemon flavour hits the tongue immediately, with this assertive sourness gradually fading from the palate from that point on. Eventually I start to notice the wheaty, grainy malts - particularly toward the finish, where their sweetness begins to gain a little ground on the tartness. A little funky in the aftertaste, but nothing too intense. Light-bodied, with restrained carbonation levels that provide a modicum of crispness, and a smooth, enjoyable feel in the mouth.
Final Grade: 4.02, an A-. Berliner Weisse is not a style of beer that I have much experience with, but I knows what I likes. I really cannot emphasize enough just how refreshing this beer is. Black Swan's Wild Child is a very nice example of this light, sour style, and I am very impressed to see something this good coming out of such a young operation. I'd buy it again without hesitation, and will probably do just that, if it's available the next time I head out to the brewery.
