clever beer, i like the idea of mixed fruits in a kettle soured beer like this, and i think blueberries and white peaches are exactly right for this, subtle and not too sweet, more of an accent than a main flavor agent, but adding some needed depth and complexity to a style that can get a little samey from brewery to brewery at times. there is more body here than in others, a really fresh white wheat malt complexion, more sturdy than the standard, and plenty of lactic sourness, a real citric pucker, but still very drinkable. the sourness is a little less clean than i like in the style, there is some residual bacterial weirdness in this, almost has a wild fermented complexion on top of the front end souring, not necessarily bretty, but there is something going on with the yeast. blueberries in front of peaches as far as the fruit is concerned, but both can be tasted and appreciated, really nice touch with the sourness here. carbonation is lighter than it should be, a bit of a drag on the palate, but its tangy and fruity enough to be lively even without the bubbles. i have been largely impressed with these guys (only had a handful of their beers though), and am really keen to source more of their stuff! this is a solid berliner thats very unique with the mixed fruit.
