Poured from a can into a snifter
Appearance – the beer pours a dark brown nearly black color with a big two finger height head of brown colored foam. The head has a great level of retention, fading slowly over time and leaving a moderate amount of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – the aroma is rather strong of a coffee and dark chocolate smell mixed with some big roasted malt and some sweet molasses and brown sugar. There are other aromas of an oatmeal and some brown bread, along with a nice cherry and plum smell. A bit of nut and char round it all out, producing a rather warming aroma overall.
Taste – The taste starts out with a very roasty and toasty malt flavor with a big presence of coffee and a bit of crème. Along with these favors comes a bit of creamy oat and some vanilla and molasses. Some raisin and prune are in there as well, adding more sweetness. As the taste advances more roast and bitterness comes onto the scene, along with some nut and char. At the same time some milk chocolate comes and fades, while there is a cola nut flavor that develops toward the end. A not of earthiness and some burnt bread develop at the end, leaving one with a creamy but roasty taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body is rather thick and chewy with a lower carbonation level. For the big dark and roasty flavors mixed with the creamy natured taste, the feel is quite nice and makes for a nice slow sipper.
Overall - A rather nice oatmeal porter. Flavorful, warming, and roasty. A great cold weather sipper.

Poured from a can dated #Fall , nto the test glass
A - Dark brown almost black color. With a solid pour, there is a quick to exit off white cap. During the experience, a thin offwhite ring resides.
S - A bit of char, chocolate, an interesting herbal element, mint comes to mind
T - All the aromatics with more chocolate and bit of espresso
M - Thick, on the palate. The oats add a bit of heft, a full bodied offering. Finish is welcome and dry
O - A big porter, at 8%, thick on the palate. A porter I will be revisiting

Pours a jet brown with a 4+F head in a Stone imperial pint glass.
The aroma has light mint and cocoa. Not as strong as the taste.
Smooth and viscous MF. Very enjoyable in a Porter.
The taste has deep chocolate-cocoa notes with a hint of mint.
Five or six years ago most of the American brewery Porter offerings were lackluster.
Since then, there have been a number of excellent porters offered by American breweries.
The Deciduous approach is a little different, the emphasis is on a thicker mouth feel, heavier chocolate – cocoa taste, and a hint of mint
Excellent beer!

From a 16 oz. can sampled on Nov 19, 2022. Date is missing but I know it was in mid to late 2022.
They nailed the appearance, which is dark brown to near jet black under a foamy. mocha-brown lingering head. Really sticks around.
The aroma expresses dark roasted caramel and cooked oatmeal. coffee, a mild berry fruitiness, ash, and low to no booze for 8%.
Smooth medium or better mouthfeel. Heavier than a lot of Porters I have tried.
The taste is sweet with coffee and cream, char, roast, and a mild bitterness that is warming in the end. I do not get any alcohol in the taste either. Nicely done.

Served from the can in a Lagunitas mason jar.
Pours a straight obsidian topped by a finger or so of sandstone foam. The nose comprises sharp roast, dark toast, burnt popcorn (not so much the popcorn, but the burnt aspect, y'dig?), and a strange mixture of really hard water and peanut butter. 'Kay. The taste holds notes of toasted Oreo (just the cookie part, not the filling), peanut butter powder, and a touch of dried molasses. The body is a lithe medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a sorta/kinda drying finish. Not gonna lie, this one did not sit well with me. I don't think they have a strong grasp on how to mix peanut butter into the mix, and this particular mix went down poorly for me.

Can from the brewery
Solid black in color with a tightly bubbled khaki head that slowly fades. Rich roasty caramel and chocolate with earthy spicy hops to counter and a hint of warming alcohol. Tasty beer but feels like a roasty stout more than a chocolatey porter.

From a 16oz can, undated, purchased at the brewery 11/12/20. Served in a cervoise.
Pours thick-appearing and to-all-intents-and-purposes black, with a feeble little scant quarter-finger of head that was gone too quickly to really get a look at. Well, one doesn’t expect a porter to look like much, so there’s that.
Aroma of unsweetened baking chocolate and a little toasty something. Fairly faint but pleasant enough.
Tastes of baking chocolate and, interestingly, I’m getting more than just a little cinnamon, both on the palate and in the sinuses - well, that’s nice. And an interesting contrast between a creamy, almost porridgy chocolate pudding character and dry bitterness of the scraped-burnt-toast and empty-coffee-pot-left-on-the-burner-too-long sort.
Feel is smooth with mouth-coating creaminess, fairly hefty bodied with gentle carbonation.
Overall, doesn’t look like much but it’s a really very nice... imperial oatmeal porter? Really? Fine, whatever, you brew it, you can call it whatever you want.

Imperial Porter not sure when it was canned poured into a proper Snulip glass. Pours near pitch black with a 2 finger sticky light brown head that leaves barbed wire lace behind with excellent retention. 4.5
Smell cocoa nibs, vanilla beans, coffee grounds, biscuit, and toffee. 4.5
Taste follows chocolate, vanilla, coffee, biscuit, and toffee, chocolate and vanilla are most dominant with the others lending a hand. 4.5
Mouthfeel is big but creamy, soft carbonation, sticky and a tad dry, and at 8% drinks easy enough but maybe bigger on flavor. 4.5
Overall this is a really tasty brew, drinks more like a stout and that is how I like them. Well done and highly recommended. 4.5
