DECIDUOUS THE CHAIN IPA 9/8/18

Single can given to me by my daughter who got it at the brewery a week ago.

a: Cloudy yellow/orange gold with no head, just a ring of bubbles and some wisps of surface foam.

s: Citrus and light fruit leaning to peach.

t; Slightly sour light fruit with moderate bitterness which lingers on the dry finish.

m: An especially pleasant medium, good body and more carbonation tingle than the lack of a head suggested.

o: An outstandingly flavorful higher end (6%) session IPA, very refreshing and fruity. Only quibbles would be it's not only hoppy bitter but slightly sour, and this brewery still seems to have a difficult time producing an IPA with a decent head on it,

Pours a beautiful cloudy yellow gold color, slightly pale with a half finger fizzy head that settles to nothing very quickly.

Aroma has distinctive peach and orange notes. Very pleasant and fresh smelling.

The taste is a little thin up front with a strong stone fruit flavor (peach/nectarine) creeping in starting at the mid-taste and strong into the finish. There is a bitterness that tails along making for a tart version of peach instead of a sweet one. I think this works well for it though, There is a slight sweetness in the light malt base that helps a bit. Flavor is clean and not muted.

Feel is thinner than typical and somewhat soft. There is enough there to give it substance so it does feel like a solid IPA.

Overall this is a great IPA. It feels fresh and clean with a little more bitterness than the typical NEIPA. I happen to like that but overall it is well crafted with zero off flavors. well done.
