Dark yellow haze, creamy foam, builds nicely. Hops for days, nice moldy earth flavors, not too sweet, nice balance. Overall it was a very creamy, well balanced, New England IPA, one of the better beers from Sand City I’ve had.

Sand City Power of 2
Galaxy, Citra, Mosaic, Nelson, Simcoe
Look: In my Spiegelau it pours a pale yellow to golden straw color at the narrow bottom, to a darker, more murky gold color in the wide mouth. A tall, rocky, off white head that settles to no less than a finger, lacing the glass as I drink the beer. No visible carbonation. Somewhat murky, but overall a great looking IPA based on the color and foamy, retentive head.
Smell: The aroma is excellent. It has a hint of a favorite IPA aroma of mine: Crushed sweet tarts. A fruit candy sweetness with some lemon/lime and berry notes mixed in. Mango, pineapple, grassy, peach. The Simcoe definitely comes through, especially as the beer warms, with some cattiness, sharper, green, less ripened pineapple and mango and some earthy notes. This hop helps define this beer. The Nelson also comes through, but as a back up. White grapes, berry, vinous white wine. Bready malt aroma. The 9% ABV is noticeable as the beer warms but never offputting.
Taste: This drinks very well for the ABV. You can tell it’s a big beer but there is no distraction from the drinking experience. Slightly, slightly, fisel. Upfront, big sweeter tropical fruit notes of mango and pineapple, shifting to greener, unripened versions on the back, followed by a pleasant bitterness.
Mouthfeel: Amazing. Smooth and moderately carbonated while remaining light on the palate. Semi sweet on the finish.
Overall: This is my fourth beer from Sand City, all of which have been IPA’s. Discounting one a year ago that I did not rate because it was a small pour during a heavy drinking session, it’s been two years since I’ve had one of their beers. This is an excellent and clean DIPA.
Great mouthfeel. Nice tropical fruit complemented by notable bitterness and firm malt backbone. Dangerously drinkable.

Canned 01/23/19, it pours cloudy yellow gold with the now classic Sand City hazy DIPA looks; 2 finger thick foamy off white head that faded slowly and leaves real fine spotty foamy lacing. I missed the original release back in April 2018 but this batch is quite pungent with red grapefruit, lemon zest, orange peel, tangerine and some other tropical fruit which barely lets the malt backbone peek through. Flavor is dank and juicy with all of the fruits from the nose mixed with some graham cracker, peppery spices, floral hops, melon, tea leaf and some training chalky yeast. Fantastic job being able to make dry hopping come off as fresh hopped. It hides the ABV so well that it's stupidly smooth and easy to drink. Another great beer from these guys, they should make it every year.

golden yellow/orange in color
smell is citrus and passionfruit, some mango as well
taste is fruity, mango, orange, lemon..lightly hoppy, no maltiness
nice carbination & body and the high ABV is well hidden
Sand City has been hit and miss for me, but this one is a definite hit..really enjoyed this !
