Filled up the growler on my last pass through town.

The growler opens with a solid "pffffsst", confirmed the contents are still fresh.
Pours a dark, nut brown in my glass. Light, low head dissapates quickly. The aromas are difficult to detect; malty was about it, I was hoping for a little more in the hop aroma department, but alas..
Tastes pretty smooth- the hop bitterness that ought to dominate this style was overpowered in part by the malt of this brew. The citric hop flavors were present and balanced nicely with the warming effects of the alcohol in this brew.
Pretty drinkable (considering I DID finish the growler), but I'd be recommend the St. Peter Red or Eagle Lake Pale over this offering.

Aroma was a tough call in a bar that was active and extremely smokey. In general aroma isn't a highlight or strength of the brews here. What I could pick up was light and malty.
Poured very well by the bar keep. Nice dense head of a solid one inch and tannish. Amber pushing darker, deep red. Slight chill haze. Not brilliantly clear.
Malt dominates the flavor. Fairly clean. Not particularly sweet. Bitterness grows in time and more towards the bottom of the glass. Also leaving a drying bitterness on the tongue from a fairly long finish.
Has a heaviness to it and a slickness to the heaviness. Not an easy drinker with the heaviness and the bitterness. Warming effect that is mild.
Interesting balance. Not a lot of hop flavor, but moderate bitterness. Flavors don't knock your socks off, but nicely done and a good beer for food.
