This big, bold stout proudly features loads of caramel and roasted malts. With a balance of dark fruits, rich chocolate, and roasty coffee, be careful, this one is a sipper.

It pours dark brown with a tan head. It has good retention. There is a slight burt flavor up front with roast and caramel. It has plums and prunes with a slight dried cherry note. It has strong alcohol warming.

This metal-sounding imperial stout is an effervescent, near-impenetrably black beer that sports a thin, slightly pebbly dark tan head and faint glimmers of mahogany at its base; head retention is brief and lacing is fair, consisting of spiky bands and ladders. The aroma is medium in intensity; it leads with dark molasses, backed by cocoa and more subtle milk chocolate and light-complected caramel notes; modest alcohol overtones top things off. The flavor is barely on the sweet side of the balance; it is a seamless blend of milk chocolate, cocoa and more subtle molasses, with hints of dark caramel and toffee and a moderate alcohol undertow. The finish is a goodly hit of roasted barley and booze, and is a bit warming; the linger is a slight echo of the finish that lasts awhile. Mouthfeel is commensurate with the full body and is slightly warming; the texture is sticky/creamy and faintly peppery from the very restrained carbonation. (growler, 58 days after kegging)
