On tap at The Brew Works Bourbon & Beer Event...
Appears a hazy, reddish toned amber with a small amount of beige bubbles that quickly whisps away.
Smell is of light caramel, toasted malt, honey suckle, and very faint notes of bourbon, and vanilla.
Taste is of the aromas. Everything is very subtle in this cask version. Perhaps the bitterness of the hops, along with the wood tannins clash at first but they make for an interesting combination with each sip.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied, sweet, yet bitter with that touch of bourbon coming through just at the end.

A: Amber red with golden highlights. White, thin head. No retention, but it was a firkin cask.

S: Biscuits, caramel, toast and spiced honey.

T: Nutty, malty and bready. This is definitely a malt forward ale. The hop profile is delicate and balanced well with the malts.

M: For being a bodied beer, it's pretty drinkable and not as tacky on the palate as you would think. Decent after taste. No residual tannins.

O: Tasty and well balanced. Solid beer.

On tap at pinocchio's. Nearly clear amber body with a small cream colored head that settles down slowly. Patchy, slippery lace. Aroma is fairly mild, biscuity malt, vaguely medicinal herbal hops, very faint Bourbon note.

Taste follows the nose, but the overall effect is very mild and restrained. Bourbon, vanilla, oak, tannins are all very subtle. Mostly there is a nice biscuit malt character with gentle honey sweetness. That vaguely medicinal hop note is there but thankfully is very subtle.

Medium thin bodied with very moderate carbonation. Feels pretty lightweight and drinks quick easily. Not particularly exceptional however; certainly not a must-try for fans of Bourbon barrel aged brews. Barrel character is subtle; its the session answer to the BBA craze.

Amber in color with off-white head. Smells of biscuit, slight spice, earth, vague medicinal flavors. Tastes of biscuits, earth, slight medicinal, burnt sugar, some echo of roast, dry, bitter finish. Medium carbonation with medium body. A drinkable, slightly sweetened biscuity beer.
