On nitro at brewery (revisit, non-nitro, 2029)
Wish this was non-nitro, but let's see how it goes:
Nice looking nitro head, check. The body is an auburn color and seemingly clear beyond the condensation and ignoring the dark color.
(Revisit: looked like an amber backlit, but a light to medium brown body with an off white head that lasts, laces)
Nose is light, and more lightly toasted grain bread than nutty, though there's an aspect of the latter. Not many hop-specific notes coming out.
(Revisit: for some odd reason, this has a barrel aspect to it - maybe an unclean glass? The nuts and grain share the stage behind it)
A little bland on taste, a common complaints by detractors of brown ales, but I feel is not hurting here (not sure why, exactly). There's the requisite toasted notes, like a light grain bread with some whole grain nuttiness included in the bread. Neutral to lightly reedy bitterness in back.
(Revisit: a little bolder, more nutty version than the nitro showed)
Some things to like here, but they seem to come out hesitantly. Not complex, more neutral malty, it basically crosses T and dots i's. If you like browns I'd guess you won't hate it. If you don't, doubt this will win you over.
