Vienna and Dark Munich malts drive the toasty malt backbone to this copper colored lager. Lightly hopped with German noble hops, Tettnager and Hallertau Mittelfruh for subtle, herbal nose and a touch of spice to the dry finish.

From the can, it pours a clear amber color with a small, soon diminishing to nothing head. The nose gets a bit of malt with caramel notes. Taste is caramel forward bready malt. Mild aftertaste.

12 ounce can poured into a tumbler style pint glass.
Pours light amber and clear with less than a half inch of cream-white head that is somewhat persistent being fed from a steady stream of rising bubbles. The subtle nose opens with bready malt and is followed to a lesser degree by spicy hop aroma. Taste opens with semi-sweet malty toast and honey and moves to a drier finish with rising herbal and floral hop flavor. Mouthfeel is light and crisp, a little thin and is devoid of any soft creaminess. Not bad but missing on the mouthfeel for me.

A big tip of the hat to Craig for this gem. Cheers man!
Like a turned maple leaf in autumn, Nautifest is beautiful. A slightly clouded but bright orange color boasting honey gold and deep amber highlights. The froth above is delightful. Light cream colored, coarse, and stibburn. It lazily descends and plastered the glass with ring after ring.
Holding true to tradition, simple but wonderfully balanced aromas of white bread crusts, a drizzle of caramel, and a dash of dusty, earthy hops. There's something deeper. A specific toasted graininess I can't quite pin point.
The flavor is incredibly bready in a very good way. This didn't lose focus getting caught up in and an abundance of spice or caramel. Simple. Biscuits, a touch of honey, a bit of spicy, floral hops, clean lager yeast linger.
A medium carbonation lifts the light bodied liquid at just the right amount. A quick attack of sweetness is overcome by an even faster spicy bitterness and dry finish demanding sip after sip. Very easy to drink.
I don't know if this would've been better fresh, but frankly I don't care. This is a delicious Oktoberfest beer. Perhaps not checking all the boxes of a perfect Old World example, but a damn fine stateside representation here. Prost!

On tap at brewery:
A dull copper, but amazingly clear for the color. Head is perhaps just off-white, though not towering. A medium ring lasts, but any left behind bubbles fall to rejoin the ring quickly.
Nose has a toasty aspect to it, with some caramel malts and a light husky bitterness. A little spicy hop note sneaks in on some whiffs. A very clean feel has a moderate carbonation level, leaving a fairly smooth feel when paired with the leaning towards medium body.
Malty opening sits on the edge of sweetness but is pulled back. Some medium toast with honey and spice helps pull the rope. A neutral bitterness Anchors the tug of war, and once the balance is struck, an earthy note holds it. The spicy hop notes come late, adding a nice flair to the somewhat dry ending.
A well put together Märzen, in my mind, with a malty influence that plays well with the noble hops. It never turns truly bitter, but the bittering ingredients are noted. Well done.
