On tap at brewery:
A darker brown, but clear, with about the lightest beige head, which provides decent lacing.
Nose is earthy to toast to not quite nutty. Light with a hint of mineral notes. In line with expectations but a little light, borderline 3.75.
Brown ale base with toasted malt, very light nuttiness, but a husky bitter side up front that grows a tad woody by the end. Feel could be a bit smoother, little raw impression with the carbonation and dryness. It’s decently bold on the malt that requires a fair bitter counter and that’s basically what I like about this, though overall this feel was leaning 3.75 from a 3.5 more than a solid one.
A fun bitter beer for me, a bitter-leaning brown ale that seems to bring a little bitterness from both the malt (via toast/roasting) and the hops.
