On tap at brewery:
Pours a light copper, very clear but not crystal. Nice creamy head settles , lasts as a thick ring, sustained by swells of bubbles that visibly rise from the bottom of the glass. Good lacing in spots.
A lightly toasted grain bread nose, accented by a hint of spice and earthiness. Swirl the glass and a good whiff brings a little raisin bread impression.
Taste has a lightly copper note to the yeasty light brown bread opening. This settles into a very light caramel malt sweetness before the earthy and not too strong bitterness counters it. Balanced to slightly bitter in the end.
Clean but not overly crisp, the malt notes give it a light bit of heft. It’s still about medium light, with a moderate soft carbonation tickle.
Not as malty or as smooth as some others I’ve had. But nicely balanced, shifting from mildly sweet to just slightly toeing over the balanced line to bitter in the end. Solid offering.
