My first two sips had this as an oddly sweet, tropical fruit-flavored offering that was like so many “softer” IPAs these days. As I got into it, though, the back end bitterness started to come out a bit more.
The slightly hazed burnished gold body didn’t support a grand head, and only a very thin ring survived until the end.
The nose is rotting citrus and some tropical bubblegum. This might also somewhat sum up my initial tastes. The opening of a stale bubblegum persisted, with a Citra cattiness backing it. This combo is a bit odd to my palate. Once beyond this mix, though, a more traditional mildly dank pine note comes in, though a cantaloupe sweetness thread lasts until the end.
The sweet fruit notes threw this one off for me. The back half of the beer was fine, but I was maybe just happy to get to it after the opening.
