Base of German Vienna and a touch of Dark Munich malts. Sweet, toasted malt flavor and aroma. Tettnanger hops in the mid boil and a finishing addition of Saaz hops for a hint of spice to the clean finish.

From the tap, it pours a golden amber color with a nice just off-white head that slowly reduces and leaves nice lacing. The nose gets a pleasant scent of caramel malts and honey combination and the taste follows with a pleasant bite of bitterness followed by a toasty malt flaovr. Nice one.

Pours a brownish orange amber hue. Nutty aroma. It's pleasantly nutty, caramel, toasty character. With some nice hop bitterness to break up the sweetness. This is malt driven, but maintains the nimbleness of a great lager. I wasn't sure how I'd feel about this one, but it's great.

This is an American Amber/Red Lager with a 5.4% ABV. I got this poured fresh right into my half-gallon growler. The freshness of this pour cannot be overstated.

Look-It has stunning clarity with no carbonation trails and a classic rich amber-copper color.

Smell-It smells like a baked biscuit covered with honey. I get a bready and caramel based malt background and a lot of subtle yeast esters. It smells like a spring day with fresh cut grass, honeysuckle, and clover.

Taste-This Amber Lager is so crisp and tastes of bready and caramelly malts with a grassy hop bite from the Tettnanger hops. I also get a mix of lemon cakes, tea leaves, and a mild astringency that is seldom expressed in this brewery. It then gives way to a grassy, citrusy hop component and then the fizz from the carbonation culminates in a crescendo with the mild bite from the alcohol and the spiciness from the Saaz hops. It has a clean rinse and a light-bodied mouthfeel which is to be expected from a Lagered brew.

Overall-This is a refreshing and crisp beer! I was really surprised how enjoyable it is, but I shouldn’t have been because the brewer is top notch, but I’m a hop head. I loved their take on the Amber Lager style. This is definitely one of my favorites in the family!

On tap at brewery:
A clear amber body that has hypnotic streams of bubbles feeding a white sheen across the beers upper surface. A short wall firms across the glass on a sip, but crumbles as the glass returns to a proper perpendicular resting state.

The nose is lightly toasted soft medium-dark bread. The scents are light at the brewery, but I get a bit of that “amber-producing malt” influence that I can’t attribute to another scent than “red/amber beer.” A mix of lemon, tea leaf, and an odd astringent note complete my olfactory observations (the latter being uncharacteristic for this brewery).

A nicely balanced caramel malt and lightly toasty opening with a bit of a grassy citrus bitterness (mix of orange and lemon peel) in back. Clean and fairly light with moderate carbonation, the bitterness gains a spicy aspect as I get towards halfway through the beer.

Ended up liking this a tad more than expected, I think the Saaz hop addition helped. Think a slight deviation from a Vienna lager.
