2019 on tap at brewery (4oz):
Revisit notes, November 2019:
Lacing very nice this pour, otherwise same.
Nose is more obvious whiskey barrel than stated below, to the beer’s benefit. Coconut, wood-heavy whisky, slight barrel char and tang. Taste follows suit. It is now a bit heavy on the barrel influence, oddly enough, but is still quite tasty.
Original:
Pour a little dirty (haze) rusty brown with a nice light beige/amber head that provides decent lacing.
Nose of booze and toffee, with a bit of spice, not quite Christmas, but a little nutmeg/cinnamon with perhaps a hint of clove. Malt forward with a sweet lean, but not as sweet or thick as I feared from nose. A slight tangerine peel side to the back that brings a spicy bitterness.
With a little bite from the ABV and a more mellow carbonation, this beer is not a true sipper, but it’s not a beer I feel like taking down quickly either despite its no more that medium heft. A fairly decent ABW.
