Forced draught at the GBBF 2008, as Trunk Weisse. ABV was 5.5%. Cloudy golden colour, big head. Typical hefeweizen with notes of cloves and banana both in the aroma and the flavour. Nice.

From the half-liter bottle, it pours a hazy orangey amber with a moderate head. Banana in the nose, along with a bit of clove. Excellent soft feeling in the mouth, followed by a flavor of banana with a great wheatbier taste.

Good Spirits Co. Glasgow (500ml, £2.80):
Bright orange, lighter towards the bottom. Cloudy with a foamy, inch tall head, holds well with almost no reduction.

Rich banana and clove aroma to start with some citrus undertones and a combination of wheat, yeast and lighter fruits with a little bread too. The smell is pretty refreshing with some sweetness and a tiny amount of bubblegum.

Banana and clove upfront with some background citrus and fruit. The wheat is easily detected too and there is a light, hoppy spice to round things off with.

Smooth & medium with strong carbonation. There is a slight citrus tang and some fruity sweetness but the balance is good and the beer is very easy to drink.

My first new German hefeweizen in a while and after the first sip I knew it had been too long, this one is an excellent beer and quickly reminded me of what I had been missing. The mouthfeel was a particular highlight with a great balance between flavours & great carbonation too.
