This is a really nice Scottish Ale.
Reminiscent of Founders Dirty Bastard.
I quite enjoyed it!

On tap at Mountain Rambler Brewery
A: Pours copper amber with a frothy khaki head that'll settles to a firm layer and laces nicely.
S: Big toasty bready malt, a touch of smoke, dried fruit, kinda nutty and earthy, a little molasses, and toffee sweetness.
T: Toasty bready malt, nutty, dried fruit, date stands out, subtly roasty, faint hints of chocolate and coffee, a touch of molasses, and a little toffee sweetness.
M: Full body, moderate carbonation, kinda chewy.
O: Great flavor, drinks heavier than I was expecting for 6.5%. Really cool that it brought home a GABF gold.

Drinking this on tap tonight in Lone Pine, CA. Smooth creamy flavor with nutty finish. A good one!

On tap at the brewery.
Pours a deep burnished amber. Very slight, fleeting head. Almost no lacing.
Smell begins with an oh so slight roasted caramel, then becomes slightly floral in a gentle malt meets lemon verbenia tea kind of way. Taste is more of a toasty caramel, rather than roasted. Almost buttery in its sweetness. Quite good. Only the slightest hint of smoke comes through. Feel is slick, inactive, but a tad thin.
Overall, a beautiful tasting beer, only a tad thin in the mouth for my personal preference.

A: Moderate malt sweetness with a light smokey, with a faint noble hop aroma.
A: Deep Red color, almost opaque with a thin white head that quickly recedes.
T: Moderate malt sweetness, light estery character with a noticeable melanoidin character and light smokey finish.
M: Medium bodied with moderate carbonation, slightly viscous.
O: Pretty solid; the beer has a pretty solid aroma and clean malt sweetness. However the interplay between the melanoidins and light esters and smoke presence could be improved.
