16 oz "Crowler" to a tulip
A: pours a clouded straw yellow gold body. a white single-finger bubbly head builds and falls quickly (med. retention) into a near-nonexistent ring. a little bit of foamy lacing is left behind as well.
S: a thin tropical sweetness front and foremost; coconut with pineapple wiffs dipped in vanilla tinged cream. faint caramel malt with an even fainter hint of floral hop along the backbone.
T: follows the nose, but with less accentuation of hops. near-lambic tasting. lacto-lambic? straight pineapple and coconut with the lactose sugar-vanilla-cream rushing immediately behind, paving the road for a sticky sweet and sourness with absolutely no bitterness.
F: mid-to-high level carbonation (pillowy), medium-light body, with a sticky syrupy sweet and sour finish that coats the cheeks and tongue.
Overall (personal opinion):
this is an IPA that somehow completely skips out on the hop experience. not a terrible thing, as I believe that to have been the aim, as it usually is with a "milkshake IPA" that breaks NEIPA-lovers ankles on the court. the plus side is my hops-avoidant GF likes it. those looking for an entry point to IPA style sans hop harshness/existence would love this. I enjoyed it for the sheer amount of novelty that comes with that "if you love pina coladas" song and finally not getting sick when tasting something "pina colada flavored" (long story involving a quinceanera and a faulty pina colada dispensing machine decades ago)
