Brewed with Tony Gwynn Jr, son of the baseball legend who helped us create .394 Pale Ale, this session IPA is extremely drinkable, yet an intensely flavorful, with pungent notes of citrus, tropical fruit, melon, and berry, all balanced by light caramel flavors and a smooth bitterness.

Grabbed a glass of this while I waited for to-go food at West Barbeque & Brew. Had heard about this beer, but didn’t know anything about it. Quick glance on Untappd and it was labeled as “Brewed with Tony Gwynn Jr, son of the baseball legend who helped us create .394 Pale Ale, this session IPA is extremely drinkable yet an intensely flavorful beer with pungent notes of citrus, tropical fruit, melon, and berry, all balanced by light caramel flavors and a smooth bitterness.” Was going to be a very abbreviated review.
Poured a golden clear color with three fingers of off-white frothy head when I got it. Good deal of bubbles coming up from the bottom of the glass. Excellent layered foamy lacing. World-class retention. (Sight - 4.25)
Smelled tangerine, grapefruit, pineapple and caramel. (Smell - 3.50)
Taste followed the nose pretty closely. Got caramel, buttered bread, wood, guessing Chinook, Motueka and Citra for hops, spoiled tangerine rind, pineapple, grapefruit and melon. (Taste - 3.25)
Light body. Oily texture. Average carbonation. Abrupt bitter woody finish. (Feel - 3.00)
Just not a fan of this. (Overall - 3.25)
