Each quarter we stretch our creative muscles and brew a variation of our year-round Imperial Stout. This quarter we’ve paired up with our good friends at Modern Times Coffee to create a special pairing of coffee and beer. Their Celestial Dawn coffee has robust notes of chocolate, berries, stone fruit, wood, and spice. When combined with our Speedway Stout, the blend is full of chocolate, fruit, and caramel notes.

Personally, I think this one is not that great. Really strong coffee taste to the point that I couldn't taste anything else (I'm not a coffee drinker). It also tasted more like a sour, which I'm not a fan of anyhow. For some people I'm sure this will be a good beer, but not for me. Rated 11-16-2018

Enjoyed on tap at Belmont Station
Poured into a Belmont Station chalice
p- black w/ a thin tan cap
n- nutty green coffee notes and metallic booze
t- coffee dominates the profile; light cocoa in the mix; boozy finish; fairly simple
mf- med-bodied; med carb
o- just alright; didn't really stand out to me as much as I thought it would

2018 Vintage
16oz can poured into a snifter
A- pours black in color with a two-finger foamy khaki head that eventually reduces to a thin film floating on top
S- heavy coffee up front, with some espresso, charred notes, as well as anise, caramel, chocolate & a hint of blueberry
T- plenty of roasted malts, some charred notes up front, followed by some herbal espresso. Mid-palate gives some fruity blueberry, as well as some anise. The finish gives coffee, chocolate and more roast
M- medium body with moderate carbonation leads to a foamy mouthfeel that slightly warming finish
O- not the best Speedway variant I've had, but still enjoyable

Tap, unos.
Not as good as regular speedway. Coffee is Roasty and apparent, but nothing above and beyond.

Very dark brown appearance with slight tan head. Aroma is a very pleasant blend of malt and coffee. Taste is also a very pleasant coffee and malt that is slightly sweet

On tap at Taphouse in Copenhagen.
Pours jet black with soft, light brown head.
Smell is very much coffee-driven, with notes of waffles, caramel and chocolate.
Taste is sturdy and rich. Big coffee notes mingle with chocolate, caramel and a hint of booze.
Mouthfeel is medium to full, well carbonated.
Overall, another very good Speedway version.
