Collaboration with Weathered Souls.

When two breweries from respective cities named after patron saints collaborate, you know we had to go in hard-style! We got down with our homies over at Weathered Souls Brewing Company to make this creative take on a west coast-style India pale ale. This beer is blessed with an abundance of both Citra and Nelson Sauvin which bomb the palate with notes of citrus, mango, and passionfruit. Diego and Antonio together, now you know you’re in trouble! Cheers!

Picked up a can of this with a bunch of other single cans. Really didn’t have much hope going in as most AleSmith IPAs to me are in the 3.50-3.75 range. But I wanted to give this a chance as the mentioned hops were Citra and Nelson. AleSmith’s website calls this, “When two breweries from respective cities named after patron saints collaborate, you know we had to go in hard-style! We got down with our homies over at Weathered Souls Brewing Company to make this creative take on a west coast-style India pale ale. Poured a medium yellow clear color with 2-to-3 fingers of rocky white head. Lots of bubble streams coming up from the bottom of the glass, much faster from the bottom and still fast from the sides. Almost perfect spiderweb foamy lacing. Perfect retention. (Sight - 5.00)

Smelled melon, mango rind, passion fruit, grapefruit, body odor, onion, viney berry and floral. For mentioned hops, more Nelson than Citra. From the can added some earthy malt notes. (Smell - 3.75)

Taste wasn’t quite as good as the nose. In order got spoiled melon, mango rind, passion fruit, grapefruit, Nelson, Citra, onion, caramel malt, pine, viney berry, floral and herbal. (Taste - 3.50)

Medium body. Oily texture. Average carbonation. Long, bitter finish. (Feel - 4.00)

A very good IPA overall, which for me and AleSmith hoppy beers is saying something. Glad I only got one of these though and not a 4-pack. (Overall - 3.75)

Wow. This one is bangin like Pitbull up in da club in Miami (I think. Wouldn’t know). Anyway, yeah, this one pops like Orville Redenbacker in a 600 watt microwave. I’m feeling this one well and hard like when a school marm swatted me in the ass with a ruler in the second grade...

Peace!

Great gold color in the glass with a delicious, rocky, white head. Great smell of mango and lemon. The taste is more lemon rind, grapefruit, and bread. Mouthfeel is comfy for a 7.7% beer. Overall, a winner!

16 oz can I to a pint glass

Cloudy, straw-yellow appearance. Sudsy, with sticky lacing everywhere. Fragrant bouquet with citrus rind, earthy tea, honeyed biscuits.

Flavors pop with a fresh hop snap, peppery and citrusy. Lemon-pepper meets a touch of earthy bitterness, rounded out by caramelly malts. Short finish, clean and crisp as ample carbonation accents the brew’s refreshing characteristics.

Man am I loving this beer right now. After reviewing this I’m going back to stock up. So nice to have a new, West Coast style ipa, bursting with citrusy goodness...especially in this SoCal heat. Getting this beer right down to about 34 degrees before popping it open...yum.
