An award-winning German-style “Dunkel” lager. German-grown malted barley produces flavors of toast, chocolate, and hazelnut. A dose of German-grown hops provides herbal and spicy notes. Brewed for our love of snow rescue and ski patrollers, it’s the beer to pick up when the snow’s coming down. ABV 4.8% IBU 26

Dark amber pour, clean and clear. Modest head, light nose with a whiff of yeasty bread. Taste is a moderately dry beer, malt-forward but not sweet with modest hop bitterness. Picking up some herbal / spice flavors for interest. Let the beer warm a bit. Good finish, very modest ABV of 4.8%.

12oa can picked up at Total Wine in Vancouver, WA; first from Dru Bru; 26 ibu
Poured into a Coin Toss Belgian-style tulip
pours a deep mahogany color w/ a 1-2f foamy slightly off-white head- looks good; slightly sour grainy malt nose leads to a profile of well-toasted malt and grassy hops; light-med bitterness that lingers on the tongue; light-med bodied w/ med-high carb; a touch watery; not bad; drinkable, but nothing super memorable

Blew the keg at St. Lawrence Gridiron. Dark amber body bordering on coppery brown, showing light through it, with a giant creamy off khaki head reminiscent of a nitro pour. Smooth malty body goes down easy, malt sweetness, nutty, cocoa, some dark fruits, maybe some caramel buried in there. Super easy to drink. Creamy and smooth.

perhaps the best can we have ever gotten out of the handlebar mystery machine, i was stoked to see this and always appreciate getting something crafty from what is essentially the value bin. a really well made dark lager, these guys have always done the classics well, and this is spot on. frothy feeling and extremely well carbonated, which keeps a darker colored beer drinking light, and it only has a little bit of mid palate sweetness to it, molasses and toffee there, but there are plenty of other malt layers to balance, including a little roast, some baking chocolate and cocoa powder, natural process african coffee, black tea, raisin, and dark bread, pumpernickel or something. i like the german lager yeast, obvious, familiar, yet restrained, and there are some herbal hops that hit noble and come on late adding some needed back end bite, mellow as it still is. fresh and hearty, quite complex actually and increasingly so as it warms, so fig character, maybe just a hint of smoke too. a richer vienna malt thing at the end before the hops, great balance to this overall, effervescent and refreshing for the style, something i will definitely look forward to drinking again. good to see more and more from these guys popping up around the boise area, this one rules, way better than its ratings!

Attractive golden brown brew with plenty of foam in the chalice. It smells of wet hay and spent brewing grain. Quite sweet and oddly fruity. Tastes like a bock beer at first, and then settles into a Winter Warmer impersonation. Quite grainy and bitter, beyond the unexpected sugar. It's actually rather difficult to drink, though it seems clean and well made-- just an unpleasant hodgepodge of flavors. From the 12 oz can purchased at Elizabeth Station.

Pours a mahogany brown color with a bubbly tan head. Smells of roasted gran. Nutty and brown bread flavor. Mild bitterness. A good representation of the style.

12oz can at Hops & Bottles. Medium brown pour, small off-white foamy head. Aroma is malty and sweet. Taste follows with raisins, maltiness and enough sweetness that it seems this beer is trying to be a doppelbock.

Poured from 12oz can into a mug. Canned 12/16/20; I think for a lager that's not too old.
Appearance: rich medium-brown hue with a little bit of haze and a thick finger of frothy tan foam atop. Perhaps not quite as clear as a traditional version, but still, very pretty.
Smell: richly malty with lots of caramel and bread character. It's perhaps a bit too sweet for my taste, but the composition is very nice.
Taste: sweet malt, with plenty of caramel character and a light bitterness that hits at the end and helps balance the malt. It's nice.
Mouthfeel: medium body with a good carbonation and a nice creaminess. I like it.
Overall: this is kind of a sweet version of the style in my opinion, but it's still pretty tasty and quaffable.
