light and easy going, pretty classically styled, mild i guess, but well done, less european on the grain and the yeast side than the best of these, pretty light handed on the hops too, but there is good balance, its not too cleaned up as to lack character, and it remains a real ripper in terms of pace, fast and clean to finish, minimal body. nice carbonation, more summer than fall to me, but lager like this is more or less always in season. its not quite crisp to me, there isnt really enough flavor to resolve it with a crisp finish, like its so light its not really a necessary aspect of this, and the bitterness of the noble type hops is well restrained. lightly crackery, some earthy minerals to the water, a mild doughy thing too from the yeast, simple, almost overly so, a flash of grain sweetness in the middle and through the back half even, but this is pretty much gone on the swallow. refreshing enough, not too light for spicy food or fried food, a good companion to both. if you are looking for a real mellow lager to make a day of, this is a fine choice. not one of the more exciting beers these guys do, but it doesnt need to be...
