i couldnt believe how cheap these were at the brewery, just a couple of bucks per bomber, a screaming deal, even if its unimpressive as a berliner. the context made this for me, sharing it with a homie i had not seen in ages, socially distanced of course, but it was a treat just for the company, could have been drinking anything and enjoyed it. this berliner though is a little messy. the lacto souring has a little cheesy and sweaty character, and its the first thing i smell and the last thing i taste, so its not even a background thing, its exposed, and overall this would be better if it were cleaner. that said, i like that i can taste some wheat in here, i like how low the alcohol content is too, and i think this does have some potential, if refined a bit. hints of red and green apple and dry cereal make it autumnal to me, almost a cider essence to it, even cider vinegar with the tang from the lacto. not super sour at all though, so easy enough drinking, i just dont love the flavor. more bubbles would also be nice, but for less than three bucks a pop, i am in no position to complain. i loved my visit to dru bru and have a lot of respect for what they are doing, but this is not one of their best beers.
