Grabbed a can at Perfect Pour.
First I’m a bit biased. Grew up in Hanover a long time ago but have returned at times and have enjoyed the efforts of Warehouse Gourmet and Aldus to deliver some good brews. Meaning no disrespect to other Hanover breweries…but Warehouse and Aldus have been more my go tos.
In this can happy to have a Aldus brew down here on the Eastern Shore of MD.
Poured out into my favorite “Akkurat” glass for dark brews. Full black pour with rich creamy full tan head. Nose brought out dark malts and cacao. Taste mirrored… perhaps less chocolate but additions of roastiness and leather. Body was nicely full and smooth for 7%. As beer opened to air and warmed a bit chocolate returned and body retained a nice malty bottom.
Overall a very nice seasonable drink. I was impressed with a nicely smooth and flavorful old school session stout from Aldus vs so many breweries that are making either thin been there done that stouts or going the other way with huge syrupy liquor barrel enhanced ImpStouts. Actually reminded me a bit of Sam Smith’s Chocolate Stout on hand pull in London. Glad I could try it.

on nitro draft, in pint glass
black in color, layer of cream colored thick head. aroma is a little roasty like dark cocoa. taste is similar, bittersweet. medium to full bodied. smoother feel from the nitro treatment
