Thanks Tim for sharing this with us. Crowler poured into a snifter appears pitch black in color with a dark brown head that fades leaving stringy lace.
This smells citrusy with hops and earthen with a deep roastiness almost charred to acrid grain character with a mild hint of chocolate. Some solvent alcohol tingles the nose.
This tastes citrusy and herbal almost in the vein of a black IPA at first that then gets more roasty and earthen feeling with a solvent alcohol feel and very mild, neutral oakiness in the aftertaste.
This is medium in body with modest carbonation. Overall not a bad brew just more hoppy than I prefer my stouts to be. Also, the oaked character to this was very young feeling with more of a tannic nature than the subtle pleasantry that comes with time.
