-Served in globe on guest tap @ St. Boniface.
A: No head formation, typical of style, sits atop a hersey brown colored body. No lacing on the vessel and no distinguishable carbonation sightings.
S: The aroma is very light, despite its 10.0% abv. Caramel malts have a touch of alcohol and earthy touch. Strength was a bit light and short on spectrum range.
T: The flavor was light burnt caramelized malt. Earthy and bittering briary with a nice alcohol detection on the finish. Earthy leaves, and earthy bitterness, but lacks that big malty sweetness and short on spicing per style. Some dried dark fruit.
M: The mouthful was thick, biscuity, slick, oily and full bodied, lazy on the carbonation. The alcohol was very light on the hold.
O: Overall a big abv% on the tail end upon warming, finishes strong. Decent per style, missed that big malty sweetness. Not much of a first impression, moderate regards, actually picks up late in the drink. I'm sure this would benefit from some barrel aging.
