Sampling a cellar temp 12 oz can that I got from my brother Curt for Christmas. Thanks bro!
The beer pours a clear, rich mahogany color with some garnet highlights when held up to a light source. A fluffy khaki colored head of 1 cm foams up and fades to a robust edge layer and wispy surface of bubbles. One or two lazy streams of bubbles trickle upwards from the bottom of the glass.
The aroma is very malty with caramel and toffee dominating but also a bit of spicy hop note is buried in the background. I also get a little bit of red grape scent, not sweet though. Pretty nice nose.
First sip reveals an easy drinking beer with light crisp texture and medium body. Fine and tingly carbonation tickles my palate with each mouthful.
The flavor is similar to the nose. I get some caramel and cracker malt with less toffee up front. Then I get red grape skins and some slightly bitey and spicey hops that linger after the dry finish.
This beer is clean and drinks very easy. I could see myself drinking a few of these in a session. Well made.
