There are times when pride is much more than being proud. Taft's recognizes the Pride movement in a tropical, tangy and tart ale that's meant for refreshment all June long.
Pride and Passion(fruit) pours cloudy gold and topped with a short-lived spritzy froth. With a tingle of the nose, the fruits of passionfruit and guava offer a succulent scent with a background of cider, bread and wine. Gentle sweetness has a say first as the maltiness of sourdough, light taffy and lemon-lime soda.
Once on the middle palate, the fruits open up with those overtones of tropical fruit additions that tilt the flavors in a more exotic sherbet kind of way. But the undercurrent of white wine, cider, lime, lemon and apple give the session a refreshing but off-sour balance late in taste
Medium bodied for sour ale, the story is more about the fruit as they play out like tropical fruit punch on the palate. It finishes both fruity and tart with an aftertaste of sourdough and damp burlap.
