Triple-infused coffee oatmeal stout that aged in bourbon barrels for 7 months. Shortly after removing it from the barrels, we hit it with the final infusion of Tugboat Coffee Tanzania coffee

So do you like coffee? Like black as night, no cream or sugar? If so, this one is for you! All pitches removed, this beer pours black as night, like used motor oil dredging its way out of your car. Very strong coffee presence on the nose. The coffee flavor is very strong upfront. It grabs ahold of your taste buds and never lets go. I enjoy coffee a lot, but not black, so a little disappointed that the barrel did not add any sweetness to the overall beer itself. Other than that, a very well made coffee stout.

6 oz draft pour.

Near black with a thin creamy light brown lacing

Nose: coffee with cream. Not getting a ton of bourbon barrel.

Taste: coffee, vanilla, bourbon. A lot more depth than was in the nose. Good balance. Finish is more coffee and vanilla.

Feel: extremely smooth, medium to full body, low carbonation.

Pours like rich coffee, with a head that disappears as a fast as it formed. It almost dissipates like a sour.. I was scared at first.

Aroma of super deep roasted coffee. Bitter on the nose. Not overpowering, but almost like a dark roast. Booze burns the nostrils as the beer warms up.

Coffee dominates the palate. Dark, baker's chocolate, with a boozy finish. Not getting a lot of barrel, but it finishes hot.

Mouthfeel feels thin at first, but then smooths out and feels bigger. I'd say body is medium, overall.

This would be amazing with a bit more body and some maple. Overall, great beer.

Tasted in a tumbler from draft at the Mikerphone Brewing tap room on August 13, 2018. A triple infused coffee oatmeal stout that was aged in bourbon barrels for seven months. Shortly after removing it from the barrels, it got a final infusion of Tugboat Coffee Tanzania coffee. What resulted is a smooth, full-bodied, chocolatey, coffee stout with an oak and bourbon finish. Highly recommended.

On draft at Mikerphone.

Deep dark black liquid with foam only present around the edge of glass. Smell is of wonderful coffee. It's very obvious and very present up front. The creamy (not bitter) coffee flavor is also very much at the front of the flavor profile, but the beer does open up to this chocolate and vanilla fudge as it warms. Not much barrel presence (quite mild), but you can tell it's there if you're looking for it. It serves more as something to balance the beer as opposed to dominant presence. Medium-thick mouthfeel that turns sticky as you sip along.

Very much enjoy this BA coffee IS. Out of the 3 barrel aged beers from MIkerphone, I would put this one just behind BA Imperial Smells Like Bean Spirit and ahead of BA Softly Spoken Lies.
