2025 release (released around 7/9/25); consumed on 11/11/25

Pours a murky, orange-tinted copper body capped with a finger and a half of densely fluffy, off-white foam; solid head retention leaves a paper-thin layer of cap, a slight, frothy collar, and a limited array of webby lacing strewn around the walls of the glass.

Aromas of pumpernickel ease into caramel malts cut with wisps of minerality; notes of black bread form steadily as fruity esters linger in the distance.

Taste offers fruity esters predominant upfront, with residual brown bread developing alongside nutty malt characteristics past the mid-palate and a gentler caramel undertone settling on the finish.

Mouthfeel brings a light body and moderate-high carbonation, leaving a rounded spritz extending to a prickly air over the mid-palate as a drying texture yields an extra-crisp finish.

A gently bready overtone establishes, while sweeter transitions prove an unexpected peak for the nuttier malt aspect of the style.

From Beer Drop, no dating on the can.

Pours a clear amber gold with plenty of foam, excellent retention and good lacing.

Smell is big notes of bread, caramel malt, earthy with very little hints of bitterness.

Taste follows the nose to a T. Bready, semi sweet, earthy, caramel, with just a mere touch of bitterness in the finish.

Appropriate mouthfeel for the style, this is good.

Released 8/17/22; drank 9/6/22 @ the Yarchives.

Cloudy orange/red appearance.

A rough pour yielded a nice eggshell head; frothy tree-rung lace.

Acorn, cream soda & dry oak notes in the nose.

Medium thick mouthfeel.

Acorn & brown sugar flavors up front; dry oak & mild orange peel notes on the finish. Booze heat emerged as this warmed.

Not bad, but bit drying on the finish for the style. Too hoppy?

Had on tap. Dark amber brown pour with a faded cap but tons of lacing. Very malty nose with toasted caramel, a hint of dark fruit, brown bread and wet earth. Taste is a clone but has an light old world hop finish. Feel is smooth, moderately crisp, and malty the whole way in the medium body. Solid

Tasted in a tumbler from draft at the Mikerphone Brewing tap room on September 21, 2018. A very unique interpretation of the style. Still malty but it also has some nice floral aromas and flavors.

9/23/18 (Chicago): 32 oz Crowler purchased 9/22 at Mikerphone Brewing tap room. Multiple pours into large beer mug. Dark brown pour, generous puffy white head, ample lacing left, solid carbonation. Strong sweet bread and malt aroma. Nice malt peppery flavor, mouth feel very thin, carbonation dissipates quickly. Overall decent Marzen offering.
