Notes:
A ripe, juicy beer, Habit boasts composed bitterness tempered with resinous papaya, grapefruit, and mango. This IPA continuously delivers the forward, yet satisfying hit of hops every IPA drinker craves.

Definitely among the better craft beers made in Nashville, and one of the better IPAs I've tasted from this region of the US. A bit lacking in the nose, but respectable flavor profile from front to finish.

Bearded Iris Brewing "Habit IPA"
on tap at The Pharmacy Burger Parlor, Nashville, TN - 6 April 2015
$8 for a 10 oz. glass
So am I to understand that this is the only beer that Bearded Iris makes? Wow! At least they're doing it right. And that's just a-OK with me, if you can do one thing absolutely right you'll get ahead. Out of all of the beers I had on my recent trip to Nashville this is the one that stood out. --- NOTE: This is NOT the only beer they make. I just found out and now I want to try them all!
It was delivered to me in a snifter with a hazy golden body beneath a white head of creamy and rocky froth. The bold aroma sucked me in with notes of resin, pineapple, lemon, mango, melon, and papaya. It was tropical, citrusy, and floral all at once, and all of that carried over into the flavor with a sweetish straight-forward malt base that was perhaps just slightly wheaty. It was fully hoppy in the flavor but not overly bitter at all, as a double IPA can be, and despite the malt it retained a dry finish with some very nice mineral and citrus pith-like chalkiness.

DIPA is not available yet. Brewery scheduled to be completed by the end of October. A real good balance of bitterness, texture and smell.

Bearded Iris Habit IPA poured into tulip glass
A: big creamy head slightly hazy with a light orange hue
S: light melon a little grass and maybe lemon
T: a little murky maltiness edges out the bright fruity hops but it's there with the melon and grass
M: medium to lighter
O: pretty nice beer good hoppiness not as bright as I would like but it's pretty solid

The First batch was better, hope they figure out the real sweet spot for the recipe when they get to brew on their own system !

So hazy! This looks more like a hefe than an IPA. But once you take a taste the charade is over. Nice tangy bitterness but at only 7.5% none of the burn you might get in a DIPA. Good balance and lingering hops on the back of my tongue. Very tasty. ** Update: Flying Saucer says the sediment in my pour was probably from the keg and the ABV is not over 7% yet. Will definitely taste again when they get their high grav license. **
