The '90's had us chasing waterfalls, but they didn't have hazy IPA back then. So today Bearded Iris ups the ante by having us chase rainbows instead. Their Strata and Cashmere variety gives us colorful flavors to set 2023 in lofty motion.
Chasing Rainbows rounds the nose with a soft and creamy fruit display of citrus and tropical fruit with a softness of vanilla and coconut. Lightly herbal, the scent soon gives way to a light and doughy taste of angel food cake, agave, cereal and honeysuckle.
Hazy gold and hedging with straw accented hues, the beer caps off with a creamy white foam just as the middle palate gets back to its hoppy ways with lighter orange, white grapefruit and a lemony twinge. More tropical flavors of pineapple, guava, passionfruit, papaya and kiwi carry an herbal bite of lemongrass, verbena and green tea before finishing off with hemp and peppery resins.
Light for hazy ale, the beer finishes smooth yet with a hoppy bite to ensure crispness, refreshment and semi-dryness for a solid sense of drinkability. A hint of hop derived astringency keep the session from utmost cleanliness as the ale lingers with herbal flavors and green fruit peels.
