Poured from 16 oz can dated 6/19/2017

A: Pours a cloudy red tinted orange with one finger frothy white head. Decent retention and leaving light lacing.

S: Mango, peaches, pineapple, and apricots mixed with dank resinous hops.

T: Ripe tropical fruits with just a touch of sweetness. Mango, pineapple, and passion fruit.

M: Medium body with average carbonation. Finish leaves some hop oils on the tongue. Highly drinkable.

O: Another outstanding beer from Bearded Iris. Just wish I lived closer to the brewery.

Light golden, orange hues, medium white head and decent lacing. Soft juicy citrus and hop aromas. Notes of grapefruit, pineapple, orange candy, and malt sugars. Medium, clean, and lightly dry. Good IPA but juiciness is thwarted by the malt backbone.

Can dated 4/24:
Pours like a pulpy grapefruit/orange juice, with a tall initial head of larger bubbles. These fall to a bit tighter head that covers most of the murky surface. A medium thick collar is added to this coverage, and there is some lacing.

Nose isn't too juicy - initially it was a bit sweet. After the initial pour, I was surprised that the specific scents were harder to pick up. On the juicy side, I did get a bit of grapefruit, and strangely what comes across as watermelon (that's the best I can describe it). There's a hint of lemongrass and a pithy/spruce-piney bitterness on the bitter/balancing side.

Taste is a bit more juicy up front, but there is still a bit of balancing bitterness and a bit of body-augmenting malt (I'd guess oat was involved). Orange and grapefruit (no watermelon), with the grain and light piney bitterness keeping those from being too froward. The bitterness stays somewhat piney, but doesn't grow stronger - the juice sort of fades, and is replaced by a very light coconut sweetness by the end. (Note: on a too cold beer, this whole thing seemed more bitter, warmth brought out the juice and sweetness)

I quite liked this beer, It wasn't too juicy or too bitter, but had aspects of both. There was even a nice little sweet note that played a minor but important role in my enjoyment.

Another awesome beer from these guys.

More full bodied than other similar IPAs from these guys.

Sweeter at the end, maybe from the lactose?

Very citrus-y and juicy, as is the BI style.

Great beer.

Another rock-solid NEIPA offering from BI. A little more sweetness on the palette (which I liked), but a little mellower overall experience to the other senses. Pours a turbid pale orange with medium haze and a thin white head that settles quickly and laces only a little. Smell is dominated by bright citrus rind and damp grass, with orange, lemon, grapefruit, and light biscuit. Taste is bright, citrusy, sweet, herbal, and a bit astringent. Lots of citrus and tropical fruit, burnt sugar, lemongrass, cracker, some berry notes, and a little pine. You feel the sweetness up front and a bitter burn in the back. A little tartness, as well. Body is BI-typical, heavier than the flavors would suggest, a little chewy, but still very refreshing and gulp-able. Great beer.

Poured into a snifter. A very hazy golden yellow color with a generous white head. Great foam retention. The aroma was there but a bit muted: orange rind, pineapple, blueberry, raspberry, and a bit of bready malt. Juicy as hell on the palate: oranges, tropical fruit, berries, a bit of earthy notes, and a restrained but balanced dry malt. Mild and soft bitterness with a soft feel. Overall, a nice and interesting NEIPA.
