12.01.20 stamped along bottom rim of can. Poured into a Samuel Adams Perfect Pint.

A: Hazy golden with 1-finger off-white frothy head with decent retention and sparse lacing.

S: Big hop aromas of pineapple and passionfruit along with red grapefruit and lighter herbal darkness in the background.

T: Aggressive hop flavor with pineapple, guava, passionfruit, lime, grapefruit, and herbal honeysuckle in the finish. Yeast esters are there but milder than many hazy IPAs (which is fine with me). Low-medium bitterness.

M: Soft with medium body but a little chalkiness.

O: A stellar double NEIPA from BI. A very enjoyable beer that is crafted with cohesiveness.

16 oz can, dated 10/19/20, from the brewery floor, into Bearded Iris Teku.

Pours a rich gold color, foggy/hazy but not juicy, with a ridiculous head of 3 fingers that lingers for awhile before obliterating the glass with spongy lace.

The aroma is everything you'd want out of a Citra beer. It is dank, it is fruity, it is fresh. Pineapple and acidic citrus hit the nose with intensity - namely red grapefruit and freshly peeled orange. It is slightly sweaty, pleasantly so, and most importantly - wet. I have smelled ten day old Pseudo Sue and that's fantastic too - but I believe this one smells even better.

The flavor on this beer should be illegal. The amount of white grapefruit and pineapple is nearly overwhelming in a "I'm going to pass out with joy" sort of way, with mango, starfruit, and plumcot in tow. The alcohol is felt, you can almost perceive diesel but it's not quite there which is great. As it warms it does get a little less enjoyable so do not hold the glass in your hand, and refrigerate the rest of the can before you pour it again.

Feel is hot, heavily carbonated, sticky, and resinous. Lingering resins and citrus acidity.

Overall, wow. I had this once before on tap back in January, and was not overly impressed with it, so i did not go home with any 4 packs. This time I said I'm going to, because every beer that was mediocre on tap that month that I brought home anyway was great in the can. This time around they fixed whatever was plaguing their tap lines and I had a great experience there.

This can of DDH Double Scatter is absolutely ridiculous. I don't know what people are missing when they rate it average...because this beer is making me want to do crazy things.

Price paid : $16.99 / 4 pack
Would buy again : yes, yes, yes

Slight haze with noticeable suspendables. Yellow-gold with a frothy orange creme head. OJ, citrus fruits, earthy and dank Hop aromas. Rounded juiciness, medium-full, fluffy soft, nice bitterness. A bit too sticky. Not my favorite but still well done.

Mellow yellow color, lightest of gold. Faint white head.

Big honeyed tropical fruit aroma: dried pineapple chunks, creamy mango tones set against a balancing herbaceousness. Really though, citrusy zest, pine along with the sweet and bitter qualities of orange juice, and pre-dawn landscaping, fresh-cut grass.

Feel is juicy, a wee dank, somewhat oaty, and sneaky heavy in the body.

Flavors of mango, papaya balanced by a well-baked biscuit malt. Florally-pine lavender and mild caramel malt. Overall take is the bitter citrus and green finish.

A: The beer is very hazy yellow in color. It poured with a short white head that left lots of lacing down the sides of the glass and a narrow collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Moderate aromas of lime are present in the nose along with notes of grapefruit.
T: The taste follows the smell and has flavors of lime along with hints of grapefruit. The hops also contribute a light to moderate amount to of bitterness.
M: It feels medium-bodied and rather juicy on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: I liked the aromas and flavors of lime in this IPA as a result of the dry hopping with Citra.

It's pretty legit that Bearded Iris is available in the Madison area now. Saw one I haven't had before so I had to pick it up. Also haven't seen many Simcoe IPAs recently.
A: Pourded a hazy golden orange with a fluffy two finger head that lingered nicely.
A: As expected from a Simcoe hopped beer a definite dank resinous note is up front along with citrus and tropical fruit. Has some spicy zest too.
T: Follows the nose with the piney resin being prominent. Along with some malt sweetness coming through.
P: Lingers well with a lasting dank bitterness that is atypical for the style which is a nice change of pace.
O: This is another really good beer from a very consistent brewery. Hopefully more of their stuff makes it up here.

Really bright and juicy up front with sensational dry hops that are so active on the palate. Has a lingering hop textures for days, excellent

I really liked my first clash with Bearded Iris & am hoping this one goes just as well. 16 oz. can drop shipped in from Tavour dated 5/11/20.

The pour is surprisingly unhazed: not a clear West Coaster, but a light yellow that I can see my middle finger behind. The nose is orange/citrus & freshly mown hay. Nice.

Double Scatterbrain DDH w/Citra is aggressive in a way that’s refreshing in this world of sweet, sugar soaked “IPAs”. Foisted citrus, grassy hay, mango, a touch of dankness that adds interest & depth rather than making me want to take a shower. The finish is a dash of sweet leaning against a dash of bitterness. Equal partners. Slick & soft & ridiculously drinkable, I find myself taking two or three sips per lip contact.

I might have found a new-to-me brewery that actually makes a number of good IPAs. I thought perhaps those days were gone. Not quite the DDH Ever Clever is, but a very good IPA in a world teeming with mediocrity.

Can. White head with lace. Golden orange color. Not hazy.

Citrus fruit, passion fruit, melon. Piney hops with minimal resin. Maybe the can just says all the flavors I am tasting. Has a faint malt backbone showing.

I'm not one for the colorful descriptions. Let's just say that with all these different breweries attempting to make hazy ipas this one stands out above the crowd. Simply amazing.
This pretty much came out of left field. Reminds me of the first time I tried King Sue. Tennessee okay you are now on the map.Probably will never see in the Pacific Northwest again unfortunately. So sad

L: A dark honey-gold haze - a wispy cap of bone-hued head. Little spotty lace.

S: Pine resin bitter and a citrus quite like unrippened pineapple. Mineral spirits and alcohol.

T: Of the best bitter west coast double IPAs. Following the nose sooo good!

F: Oddly thin, prickly carbonation but still smooth. I do wish for more carbonation though.

O: Tennessee, who I knew not previously had now garnered my attention with this top notch brewery. I will look for more from Bearded Iris!

This the second beer from Tennessee that I am lucky to try. I popped the top on the can and the aroma emitted made my mouth water. The beer is 48 degrees and served in a tulip glass. The pour of the beer is a foamy creamy head that is airy. The head did not last long and dissipated quickly leaving some lacing on the glass. The color of the head of the beer is bright white. The color of the beer is straw with a touch of amber hues. The clarity of the beer is hazy. No lacing was left on the glass after the head dissipated.

The aromas in the beer are lemons, toasted malts, grapefruit, mango, pineapple, floral, and hint of crackers.

The flavors in the beer are mangos, toasted malts, grapefruit, pine, pineapple, floral, bay leaves, earthy, crackers, lemons, oranges, and resin.

16oz can served in a pint glass. Dated 11/11/19.

Pours moderately hazy golden. Smallish head, nice lacing, medium carbonation. Smell is mild, but primarily tropical.

Taste is less tropical, more grapefruit/pine. Still nice, though.

Mouthfeel is medium, dry. Overall, good beer.

16oz can into a pint glass. Canned 11/11/19, so a little over a month old.

Standard Bearded Iris neipa look, slightly dull orange body with a small white head. The head on this one persists throughout, leaving excellent lacing.

Aroma is citra, grassy, quite pleasant.

Upon tasting, light bitterness, more towards the end, good hoppy flavor, mix of pine and citrus, pine seems to nose ahead. Pleasing warmth from the abv. Very good drink.

Mouth closer to full than medium, finish warm and a slight bite on the tongue.

Overall, another top notch neipa from BI, though listed as an Imperial IPA here.

Double dry-hopped IIPA with Citra. Poured from a can into a Woodburn tulip. The pour is amazing-looking. It is light orange in color and as hazy as fruit juice with a couple fingers of rocky off-white head. Average retention. The nose is juicy and citrusy with pleasant notes of oranges, peaches, pineapples, and mango.

Medium body with an oily feel and a very hop-forward flavor. Sharp and hoppy from the get-go. I first get flavors of fresh bread and lemon curd, then more lemon, some orange, and rose petals. The hops seem to maintain their sharpness towards the back of the palate and they linger well on the finish. I feel this beer just needs a tad more malt to provide just slightly more backbone for all those hops. That said, I still think it's spectacular.

First had poured from pint can, stamped on bottom (apparently canned on) "03/05/19," imported from Tennessee by my life coach, into nonic pint.

Since regular Scatterbrain drinks like a session IPA, it’s not surprising the Double version drinks like a regular IPA, which at 8.00 ABV can be a very good thing.

16oz can from Sprayberry Bottle Shop (Marietta, GA). 4.99. Canned 1/21/19. Served in a Barrel and Barley teku. Enjoyed 2/6/19.

Pours a hazy pale yellow with a short cap of white froth. The head recedes, leaving a few tiny surface splotches, a modest perimeter and a couple hearty trails of lace.

Smells of oranges, tropical fruit, pine and some vague caramel malt.

Tastes quite juicy. Oranges, grapefruit, some melon character, lemon peel, pine and a little bit of faint malt sweetness. Almost no perceivable alcohol.

Resinous, slightly oily medium full feel with moderate carbonation. The lingering aftertaste of citrus, tropical and light caramel continues the juicy theme but with some slightly bitter overtones.

This is only my second offering from Bearded Iris but I can tell these guys know hops. Double Scatterbrain has a delightfully vibrant hop character and juicy flavor profile that fits right in with the current trends. I’ll certainly consider a repeat purchase if I come across a fresh 4 pack.

This is a great Citra beer. Bright orange beer with a thick, creamy, sticky head. The nose is filled with orange, mango and pineapple. Moderately sweet with a ton of citrus and mango in the flavor. Finishes dry with a pithy/pine bitterness. Very tasty.
