Half pour at the brewery.

Hazy but not juicy gold with a creamy cap of 1 finger.

Aroma is super juicy, just pure juice!!!! HUGE orange Juice, grapefruit juice, tangerine gum, cracker malt.

Flavor comes in with thin wafer cracker and pine, then grass, and orange pith, and finally orange peel. Leans on the bitter side of things. Aftertaste of Burger King onions/onion rings.

Feel is juicy and acidic, great popping carbonation, mild alcohol presence, and a polite resiny finish.

Overall a very good IIPA but as I'm short on funds now at the end of my trip, I gotta watch it and this one is not enough for me to buy a 4 pack (personal note).

L: A dark honey-gold haze - a wispy cap of bone-hued head. Little spotty lace.

S: Pine resin bitter and a citrus quite like unrippened pineapple. Mineral spirits and alcohol.

T: Of the best bitter west coast double IPAs. Following the nose sooo good!

F: Oddly thin, prickly carbonation but still smooth. I do wish for more carbonation though.

O: Tennessee, who I knew not previously had now garnered my attention with this top notch brewery. I will look for more from Bearded Iris!

Pours a light orange with a thin, white head.
Smell of citrus and honey, slight spice.
Taste of candied citrus with some dank. Slight Spice with pine resining end. Good balance.

This the second beer from Tennessee that I am lucky to try. I popped the top on the can and the aroma emitted made my mouth water. The beer is 48 degrees and served in a tulip glass. The pour of the beer is a foamy creamy head that is airy. The head did not last long and dissipated quickly leaving some lacing on the glass. The color of the head of the beer is bright white. The color of the beer is straw with a touch of amber hues. The clarity of the beer is hazy. No lacing was left on the glass after the head dissipated.

The aromas in the beer are lemons, toasted malts, grapefruit, mango, pineapple, floral, and hint of crackers.

The flavors in the beer are mangos, toasted malts, grapefruit, pine, pineapple, floral, bay leaves, earthy, crackers, lemons, oranges, and resin.

16oz can served in a pint glass. Dated 11/11/19.

Pours moderately hazy golden. Smallish head, nice lacing, medium carbonation. Smell is mild, but primarily tropical.

Taste is less tropical, more grapefruit/pine. Still nice, though.

Mouthfeel is medium, dry. Overall, good beer.

16oz can into a pint glass. Canned 11/11/19, so a little over a month old.

Standard Bearded Iris neipa look, slightly dull orange body with a small white head. The head on this one persists throughout, leaving excellent lacing.

Aroma is citra, grassy, quite pleasant.

Upon tasting, light bitterness, more towards the end, good hoppy flavor, mix of pine and citrus, pine seems to nose ahead. Pleasing warmth from the abv. Very good drink.

Mouth closer to full than medium, finish warm and a slight bite on the tongue.

Overall, another top notch neipa from BI, though listed as an Imperial IPA here.

Double dry-hopped IIPA with Citra. Poured from a can into a Woodburn tulip. The pour is amazing-looking. It is light orange in color and as hazy as fruit juice with a couple fingers of rocky off-white head. Average retention. The nose is juicy and citrusy with pleasant notes of oranges, peaches, pineapples, and mango.

Medium body with an oily feel and a very hop-forward flavor. Sharp and hoppy from the get-go. I first get flavors of fresh bread and lemon curd, then more lemon, some orange, and rose petals. The hops seem to maintain their sharpness towards the back of the palate and they linger well on the finish. I feel this beer just needs a tad more malt to provide just slightly more backbone for all those hops. That said, I still think it's spectacular.

First had poured from pint can, stamped on bottom (apparently canned on) "03/05/19," imported from Tennessee by my life coach, into nonic pint.

Since regular Scatterbrain drinks like a session IPA, it’s not surprising the Double version drinks like a regular IPA, which at 8.00 ABV can be a very good thing.

Really nice citrusy DIPA, lots of citrus, a little pine, very smooth; only had a couple from Bearded Iris when I'm able to get down to Nashville (this one and Attention Please!), but they definitely know what they're doing...very nice!

Just an all around great beer from Bearded Iris. Color of honey, nose of citrus and same with taste, except superb bitterness as it wafts across the palate.

Had it at the brewery from tap. Nice clear yellow with excellent head and lacing. Pleasant grapefruit smell and taste. Surprisingly clean and refreshing taste for a double IPA. This is a great IPA.

16oz can from Sprayberry Bottle Shop (Marietta, GA). 4.99. Canned 1/21/19. Served in a Barrel and Barley teku. Enjoyed 2/6/19.

Pours a hazy pale yellow with a short cap of white froth. The head recedes, leaving a few tiny surface splotches, a modest perimeter and a couple hearty trails of lace.

Smells of oranges, tropical fruit, pine and some vague caramel malt.

Tastes quite juicy. Oranges, grapefruit, some melon character, lemon peel, pine and a little bit of faint malt sweetness. Almost no perceivable alcohol.

Resinous, slightly oily medium full feel with moderate carbonation. The lingering aftertaste of citrus, tropical and light caramel continues the juicy theme but with some slightly bitter overtones.

This is only my second offering from Bearded Iris but I can tell these guys know hops. Double Scatterbrain has a delightfully vibrant hop character and juicy flavor profile that fits right in with the current trends. I’ll certainly consider a repeat purchase if I come across a fresh 4 pack.

This is a great Citra beer. Bright orange beer with a thick, creamy, sticky head. The nose is filled with orange, mango and pineapple. Moderately sweet with a ton of citrus and mango in the flavor. Finishes dry with a pithy/pine bitterness. Very tasty.

16oz can. Poured out a cloudy, golden orange color with a good-sized white head of foam. It smelled of tropical fruits, sweet caramel and toffee. Pineapple, grapefruit, mango and orange fruitiness with some sweet caramel and a strong bitter finish.

16 ounce can into tulip glass, canned on 3/13/2018. Pours very hazy golden orange/amber color with a 1 finger dense and rocky off white head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of huge tangerine, orange juice, lemon, grapefruit, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, guava, berry, citrus peel/zest, light pepper/pine, honey, wheat, biscuit dough, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Incredible aromas with fantastic complexity and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical hops and bready malt notes; with big strength. Taste of huge tangerine, orange juice, lemon, grapefruit, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, guava, berry, citrus peel/zest, light pepper/pine, honey, wheat, biscuit dough, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Light pine, citrus peel/zest, herbal, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of tangerine, orange juice, lemon, grapefruit, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, guava, berry, citrus peel/zest, light pepper/pine, honey, wheat, biscuit dough, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hops and bready malt flavors; with an awesome malt/bitterness balance, and zero lingering hop astringency after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from lingering bitterness. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready/grainy, fairly sticky, and slightly resinous mouthfeel that is fantastic. Mildly increasing warmth of 8%. After the finish. Overall this is an amazing NEDIPA! All around incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hops and bready malt flavors; very smooth and easy to drink for the ABV, with the mildly bitter/drying finish. Awesome spot on soft mouthfeel. Extremely juicy and fairly dank hop complexity; nice malt backbone, not overly sweet/heavy for the ABV. A highly enjoyable offering, and spot on style example. Loved the hop profile as expected. Wonderful Citra/Simcoe showcase.

Thanks to Buck89 for another shot at Bearded Iris. Received in NBS BIF #7
Golden hued and pumping bone white fluff nearly 3 fingers high. Recedes leaving nice sticky lacing.
Aroma is guava, citrus, maybe some mango. There's a subtle almost earthy spice or herbal note that I can't nail down.
Flavor begins with a tropical melange. Begins with a warm blend of papaya, grapefruit, guava, hint of pineapple juice that has seen to much time in the open air, hints of pine and onion, and I think I'm getting some of my mom's lemon verbena. Finishes a little dank, but more oniony. Not too much to detract. A lot going on here.
Mouthfeel is a bit fluffy, carbonated well. A bit of ABV warmth peeks through.

Canned 3/13/18; drank 4/7/18 @ the Yarchives.

Opaque orange appearance.

A rough pour yielded a big white head; thick, frothy, tree-rung lace.

Orange citrus, dry wheat & faint cane sugar notes in the nose.

Soft, medium mouthfeel.

Orange citrus & dry wheat flavors; mild booze heat emerged as this warmed.

A touch boozy & kinda simple; this was mildly enjoyable but not a stunner.

Pours a hazy murky pale yellow/orange mixture with a thumb sized white head that falls pretty quick with some decent lace. Little bit nicer head would rate looks better.

Aroma is loads of sweet tropical fruit notes, orange, mango passion fruit, kiwi with just touches of danker pine resin notes.

Taste is like the nose tons of sweet tropical fruits, bready malt base and fairly moderate hop bite for the finish. Pretty good hazy , fruity IPA even if I am about over that style for a while.

Mouthfeel is medium with smooth mellow carbonation.

Overall a good hazy IPA from Bearded Iris just as you would expect.

16 oz can, dated 2/12/18, poured into a pint glass

A- A hazy golden orange with a one white head.

S- Dank, passion fruits, tropical fruits, citrus zest, some oranges.

T- Piney, grapefruit, citrus zest , some tropical fruits, a little dank, super fresh hops.

M- Smooth, medium body, slightly creamy.

O- Bearded Iris know how to brew a good IPA and this is just another good one from them. Great example of having an abrasive hop profile without being just piney and bitter.

Quintessentially IPA, the acclaim of Scatterbrain IPA gives the Bearded Iris brewers permission to push that recipe to the level that make heads explode. Double dry hopped with Citra hops and success and irresistibility of this beer is a no brainer.

Fuzzy to the eye, the beer's welcomed murk isn't quite curdled cheese, but its not far off. Its foamy meringue precedes a bright and tangy aromas of citronella, tropical fruit and an herbal, woodsy fragrance. Succulence radiates from the very first sip as the delicacy of honeysuckle, orange blossom, simple fruit sugars and the lightness of angel food gently caress the tongue.

Sweetness gradually fades and the creamy remnants that are left behind help to give the fruity hop impressions an overall sherbet-like brightness. Tangerine, lemon and lime lead the way before the more tropical flavors of passionfruit, kiwi and pineapple provide an exotic middle palate. Juicy with flavors of honeydew, the ale develops a fresh pine taste late with a complement of verbena, chive and hemp. Moderately bitter, the hop resins are soft and balancing.

Spicy with a juniper and gin-like bite, the medium bodied beer is soft in finish with seemingly vanilla and dough that eventually lead to a malty dry finish with the leafy bite of lemongrass and freshly shaven pine that resonates in a medium-long aftertaste.

A: Cloudy Golden yellow with 1-2 finger dense white head with lasting retention and nice chunky lacing.

On tap at the source. Hazy bit not turbid. Bright golden color with a thick white head. Great lacing. Fantastic Citra on the nose with citrus fruit, some tropical notes, and some resin. Taste was a great blend of citrus, pine, dank resin, and bready malt. Soft feel. Moderate bitterness. ABV well hidden. A great take on the base beer.
