Tasted in a snifter from a one pint can on November 30, 2018. In a world where cookies reign supreme, one stands above: the Snickerdoodle! Dusted with heaping spoonfuls of cinnamon, vanilla bean, lactose and soft, chewy Christie Cookie Co. Snickerdoodles. This blonde english barleywine is as enticing as the smell of a fresh batch wafting through the house and as satisfying as that first warm, spiced bite.

I think the best way to review this is to forget that it’s labeled as a Barleywine. It’s not bitter or hoppy, not overly malty, and carbonated too much for the style. More like a spiced and sweet strong ale. A hazy golden color with a modest white head. The aroma had cinnamon wig sugary notes, totally like the cookie. There was also a slight stone fruit note. The taste followed closely. It opened with the snickerdoodle flavors and was then joined with a black cherry, slightly boozy flavor, reminiscent of a cough drop. Slightly warm finish but not overly boozy. Overall, this is an interesting beer and well made, but not a Barleywine in my mind.
