Bottle at share. Black, flat pour. Aroma is boozy, woody. Taste provides a nice roasty platform, but still pretty potent. Cleaner than the One Man Band.

Poured dark brown/black with a finger of mocha head.
Definitely getting barrel on the nose, if I didn't know better I would have sworn apple brandy barrels(20 year Pappy and 13 year Family Reserve). Roasty, chocolatey, some fruitiness.
Taste follows with the bourbon and rye spiciness from the barrels. As it warmed chocolate and fruit(Green apple? Cherry?) came forward but still getting lots of oaky vanilla and spicy barrel notes.
Medium body with good carb levels.
Overall this was an excellent beer, barrel notes were pretty prominent but I feel if you are aging in(and advertising) Pappy barrels then the barrel should shine.

So oaky... very woody... tons of booze. Hot, but not overly so. Seems like the bones of a great stout are here, but seems too one dimensional IMO.. Really wish the app would allow me to type while being able to see what I was typing.

I feel like it’s unfair to judge this until it’s a year old. Once you pop it, it’s straight Pappy on the nose. Only as it warms do you get that baker’s chocolate and stone fruit on the mouth. And I think if you age it you’ll get exactly that.

For now, the bourbon is still swimming around. It’s super hot, but improves from mediocre to very good as it breathes.

Seriously, if you’re looking at this and debating whether to crack it now or cellar it, DO THE LATTER. This is gonna be something else after it settles. If you are impatient, you must let this get to room temperature before you take a swig.
