Poured into a snifter from a fresh can. Great looking beer with a bright yellow hazy color and a fluffy white head. Aromas were more West Coast with lots of pine and candied oranges. Taste followed. Citrus was the dominant flavor, but pine resin was there along with a sweet lavender note. Mildly boozy but mainly just mildly sweet from the 9.5% ABV. Bready malt and not overly sweet. Outstanding.

This is a good one, and a little different than BI’s normal hoppy offerings. Definitely a West Coast IPA influence, with a heavier semi-sweet malt profile than their typical beers.

A: This beer pours a lovely golden straw color having a plump white, foamy head.
S: I kinda dove right in to the taste on this one, but mostly I'm getting a light citrus aroma.
T: This tastes a lot like a classic west-coast double IPA, maybe like Bell's Hopslam without the honey. First is hop bitterness and wet hay (not the Belgian kind), and then lemon peel and ripe oranges. I also get a hop spiciness throughout. Finishes with a light biscuity flavor, where hop resin lingers on the tongue.
M: A great balance of smooth and light on the tongue while also being heavy enough to punch you with the above flavors.
O: This is actually a great refreshment from the NEIPA kick I've been on. I miss this style of beer and Bearded Iris did an excellent job. If you need a break on drinking hoppy orange juice and want an oldy/newy but a goody, go with Lucid.

The 9.5% definitely ain't hiding in this....boozy finish steals some of that juicy thunder... it's still good but I would say the heat needs to die down a touch for it to be really really good... glad I got to try this though... these guys pump them out and it's hard to know what I've had... give it a shot if you see it but know ahead of time that it's a touch hot right out of the gate....
