This QUIET RIOT of passionfruit + pineapple + orange zest + sea salt is refreshingly tart, with subtle, thirst-quenching salinity and raucous levels of fruit power.

Tasted in a Rastal Teku from a one pint can on October 3, 2019. Brewed with passionfruit, pineapple, orange zest and sea salt.

O.P.P, yea you know me. Orange, pineapple and passionfruit is definitely how I roll into into sour ale. Bearded Iris delivers the goods on a bed of sour German-styled ale and a tropical flavored mindset.
Yelling silently as it pours, Quiet Riot's loud fruit perfume simply screams tantalizing fruit succulence. Its culmination of tangy tropical fruits and a backbone of orchard fruit, citrus and a brisk scent of the sea drifts across the nose shortly after its hazy golden pour. Underneath the creamy froth lies a taste of saltwater taffy, sourdough and puff pastry.
Any malt sweetness gradually lifts from the middle palate and allows the sharp tartness to shine. Lemon, lime, cider and white wine make a perfect complement to the generous additions of passionfruit, orange and pineapple that control the bulk of flavor in a bold sherbet, starburst and sangria kind of way. A light herbal presence is brisk with green tea and sassafras, brightened and rounded with the faintest salinity.
Medium bodied for sour ale, the crisp, clean and highly refreshing character of the sour ale makes the tropical punch character less sweet to finish and highly thirst quenching. A medium short aftertaste of fruit and herb fall away quickly, making a fast return to the glass easy and effortless.

Certainly not traditional (for a gose), but very tasty and hit all the right marks when I was in the mood for a refreshing, bright, tart, and fruity beer. Strong overripe passionfruit, citrus zest, pink guava, and lime juice notes on both the nose and tongue, with just the right amount of salinity. A nice combination of tart, sour, funky, sweet, and fruity, with no heavy lean in one direction (tart, funky, and fruity probably make up a majority of the overall experience). And a very exotic looking and feeling beer, though still very light and refreshing. Winner, winner.
