Notes:
KVEIK IPA WITH AMARILLO, SIMCOE, & MOSAIC
Where others dare to tread, this IPA unleashes the mighty freshness of amarillo + mosaic + simcoe alongside the ancient power of kveik, a centuries-old Norwegian yeast strain with immense adaptability and a unique expression of citrus.

Was quite interested to try a BI IPA with a different (or additional?) yeast strain as BI’s house yeast has such a distinctive personality that ties most of their hoppy beers together. The result was slightly different but not overly so
Look is pure cider/juice, yellow-orange I color with a medium haze. Minimal, compact, off-white bubbles form a thin cap initially, which disappears quickly and provides almost zero lacing or film.
Heavy citrus (orange and lemon, with grapefruit more hidden) and grass, with a strong mineral note and a touch of pepper. Definite champagne and wine grape elements. Floral and juicy.
Heavy lemon and citrus pith up front on the tongue, then the grassiness takes over. Very minerally and quite starchy. Extremely dry with almost zero residual sweetness. Some faint key lime personality lingers after the swallow, with a touch of salinity as well. Extremely juicy and easy-drinking, but not very complex.
Fairly thin but quite soft and silky. Tastes like it’s well carbonated (the aforementioned mineral notes) but there’s actually very little carbonation at play.
Interesting beer and I certainly drank it down easy, but not one of BI’s best.
