16 oz can, dated 7/17/20, into Southern Grist blue label snifter.
Pours a deep sooty black with a rapidly diminishing 2 finger brown head. Ends up at a fingernail after a minute or so. No lacing. Seems to be a victim of adjuncts.
Aroma is coffee and chocolate right out front, followed by notes of waffle cone, almond, cake, and vanilla. It's quite amazing.
Flavor is burnt coffee, melted chocolate-flavored ice cream, bits of almond, and vanilla soy milk. Really hammers home the idea of an ice cream stout. Aftertaste of chocolate syrup. A touch over-sweet.
Feel is very sticky, with lots of prickly carbonation, and quite a bit of alcohol burn.
Overall, a bit of a chore to drink, but it is pretty tasty. It does suffer from some of that "powdered/dried" ice cream flavor that many stouts like this exhibit...but to its merit, at a lesser degree. It's a distraction nonetheless. To this day the best stout I've had from Bearded Iris was a collab with Burial, so they may have some work to do on this style. It's not bad, but it's not something that makes me want to drive back down to find more. Especially at its price point, I mean hell, you can get some pretty killer barrel aged beers in 4 packs around the area for that chunk of change. I might be single-ing all of the BIBCO stouts from now on.
Price paid : $18.99 / 4 pack
Would buy again : no

Pours a pretty black or maybe its dark because its 5 am? Head is dark tan nice staying power and good lace.
Aroma is lots of roasted notes, chocolate sweetness helped by the lactose, light nuttiness, good vanilla not getting much coconut so its not one of those over done cloying things thank God. Aroma is ok borderline on it really .
Taste is smooth sweetness loads of chocolate sweetness thank you lactose, good vanilla light nuttiness again stretching to find the coconut but for me this is a good thing as too much can be bad. some light hops in the finish to keep it from being overly sweet. Personally could use more for my tastes. It's smooth and easy drinking eh not bad.
Mouthfeel is only medium but smooth and creamy.
Overall eh not bad might just be in a weird mood this early morning, defiantly worth a try nice to see the Hazy IPA peps of Nashville try a different style anyway.
