A: Pours black with an evenly dispersed velvety, khaki head. Looks like nitro beer actually.
S: Hazelnut and vanilla, milk chocolate.
T: Bitter chocolate, vanilla, and char dominate the flavor. More subtle are hazelnut and tobacco. As it warms, a delicious fudginess appears. Overall this is bittersweet just like you'd expect an IS to be.
M/F: Good and thick, smooth. Finishes dry with bitter chocolate and vanilla.
O: I'm pleasantly surprised that this isn't sweet -- not that BI does a bad job with sweet stouts because they do a great job. I just mean to say that I bought this with the idea of a RIS or AIS style, and I'm glad I got that! This is a solid AIS with that classic flavor and feel. The vanilla/hazelnut make it just a little more special.
