16 oz can out of a 4 pack from Red's, dated 2/16/21, into Bearded Iris Stemmie.
Strawberry puree in the glass, with a bubble gum head of 2 fingers, slowly receding.
Aroma is heavy on strawberry, raspberry, and blackberry, and has some wine cooler action as well. A little barnhouse funk.
Flavor is sour first and foremost, with some strawberry jam candies following, and then some frozen raspberries, and a little blackberry. Ends like it started - sour.
Feel is zippy and carbonated, with quite a bit more alcohol heat than is expected for 6%. It feels like a 9%'er. Remaining tang/acidity in the mouth and heat in the chest.
Overall, it's definitely a good beer. I've only had maybe a handful of Bearded Iris sours. These guys like to dial up the sour factor quite a bit. The fruit is always secondary. I prefer Southern Grist sours which keep the pucker at a minimum and the fruit front and center. Neither is bad, just different approaches. I prefer Bearded Iris for IPAs and Southern Grist for sours. I guess it's nice that Nashville's two biggest hitters have some variance so there's something for everybody. I read around that people say this is their best sour yet. Fruitiest maybe, but I actually preferred Electric Burst over this one.
Still worth checking out, but it's long gone by now. Doesn't matter though, because Nashville has literally hundreds of beers coming out each week. I've never seen anything like it.
