Appearance: Presents a pale yellow color displaying a good degree of haziness and white on-the-descent lacing.
Smell: Garden variety wheat loaf, softly grainy. Tropical blend of hop aromatics.
Taste: Mildly effusive wheat, slightly grainy with wavy veins of rock candy sweetness. There's some encroaching bitterness showing upon slight warmth. Hop blend swings tropical - white grapefruit, pink guava, papaya and pineapple. Lightly estery yeast hops to accentuate the hops.
Mouthfeel: Medium-light body. Medium carbonation.
Overall: Oh, sure, there might've been a time 10+ years ago for this, but, with nearly all IPA's featuring low bitterness, utilizing wheat (and/or oats and/or unmalted barley) along with whirlpool/dry-hopping featuring a contemporary tropical bent, isn't this just one more IPA in the crowd?

With the promise of warm weather on the horizon, Bearded Iris sets their sights on on summer with a crisp, hoppy American-styled wheat ale that borrows what they know about hazy beer making and applies it to this summer favorite.
Horizon plops into the glass with a visually dense canary yellow color, fueled with a heavy haze and a stark white cap. At a pass of the nose, the senses pick up tropical and citrus aromas, hints of herbs and a twinge of berry. Light sweetness is crisply starchy with the suggestion of cracker-like breadiness, light dough and agave sweetness.
As the flavors flood the middle palate, the sweetness drifts and the hops provide a juiciness of honeydew with white grapefruit, passionfruit and papaya with gentle hints of peach, currant and rhubarb to follow. Trending crisply bitter, the late taste is balanced with an herbal hop bite and a splash of spruce.
Medium-light, crisp and refreshing, the beer takes on hazy character to the point where a fuller and more flavorful IPA is expected, but sold as a wheat beer leaves the palate wanting more. In it's state, the beer finishes juicy, watery and with an unnecessary vegetal hop bite and a bubbly finish of seltzer.
