16oz can from Tavour. Dark Brown, one finger beige head fades. Smoky aroma, light sweetness, hint of maple. Taste is roasty, smoky, sweet with a trace of maple syrup. Light body feels right, lingering bitter bite.

Brown Ale
I think this is the first beer will millet. I have eaten millet before but as a side dish once as my former life as a chef. I used pint glass; the temperature was 44 degrees. A frothy and airy light tan three-fingered head was created from the pour. The slow retention left some lacing on the glass. The beer charts around SRM 18, dark brown with mahogany hues. The beer has some clarity, not much. The appearance of beer is above average.
First, I smell medium roasted malts, caramel, maple, and nuttiness. Nosing further, I detect brown sugar, leather, earthiness, and malty sweetness. I could not perceive any hops in the beer.
I can taste the millet with the medium roasted malts, nuttiness, and brown sugar/maple. The Millet brings a cereal grain to the beer profile. The next couple of sips, I detected brown sugar, some roasty, herbal, and earthiness.
The mouthfeel is creamy but dry. The body is medium, medium carbonation, and quick finish.
I think the millet does add a pleasant character to the brown ale, amping up the nuttiness. Well-made beer and delight to drink.

Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, with little light transmission in the glass with a three finger khaki head that starts to dissipate quickly, but ends with a quarter finger head with great retention and nice lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt, bready malt, brown bread and a touch of molasses; light mineral. Flavor is moderately toasted malt, brown bread, maple syrup, a touch of coffee and light smoke. Nice lightly maple flavored, smoky malt finish. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess. The sounded like something different right from the start. It is basically a classic brown ale made more interesting by light maple and a pleasant like smokiness. I'm pleasantly surprised by this one; I like heavy malt beers like stouts with lots of smokiness and am a fan of Aecht
Schlenkerla rauchbiers, but often find the lighter smoke brews a little to stark on the palate. Perhaps because of the maple, this one seems nicely balanced, with a deft use of the both the smoke and maple flavors. A bit understated, but very drinkable. I like this a a lot would get it again if it was ever brewed. I miss Allagash, which used to be distributed in the NW, but not for a long, long time.

A: The beer is very dark brown in color and is black when viewed from afar. It poured with a quarter finger high tan head that left a narrow collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Light to moderate aromas of maple syrup are present in the nose.
T: The taste has light to moderate flavors of maple syrup along with hints of millet.
M: It feels medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: The maple aromas and flavors in this beer are somewhat subtle, but they add some complexity to this brown ale.
Serving type: can

16oz can into a pint glass. Canned 7/22/21, so 8 weeks old. Brewed for Barrel & Flow 2021.
Looks pretty good in the glass. Dark brown body, darker in the core. Small tan head shrinks to a fat ring and covering, though not much lacing.
Smoky, malty aroma.
On tasting, for the most part it tastes like a straight up smoked beer. However, the fact that the maple syrup is smoked, not the grains, does give a slight sweetness mingled in with the campfire taste.
Mouth seems thinner than it really is, finish a smoky sweetness.
Overall, interesting beer. Not something you would want a session of, but enjoyable once in a while.

On draft at the brewery, 12 oz glass
Dark brown in color, cream colored head, great head retention and lacing. Nice bready malt, mild mollasses and maple in there, only a touch of smoke. Very smooth mouthfeel
