(13 oz tulip pour at The Mile two days ago)
A tough one to wrap my head around. Sounded good, I like this idea, but hmm... it poured with nearly no foam, Quad-colored auburn liquid sporting a foggy haze... not a terribly dynamic nose: hint of malt vinegar atop a rather vinous (vaguely sherry) array of microorganismic aromatics... the absence of heady alcohol edge and defined phenols is apparent on the nose and the palate... while the barrel-aging is front and center, it has a strange dissonant tone to it, like over-oxidation, throwing it off balance with whatever base beer character there may have been pre-barreling... make this stronger and somehow artfully maintain the personality of a Quad (dark fruit, candi sugar sweets) and you may have something... this tastes like a failed test batch (2449)

I had this on draft 8/6/25 @ the Hopleaf.
Mostly opaque red/purple appearance.
HUGE off-white head; frothy lacing remained.
Tart lemon, wood & faint strawberry notes in the nose.
Medium mouthfeel.
Lemon & wood flavors up front; mildly tart strawberry finish.
I don't get much Quad here, but it's prickly fun all the same.
